For the record, none of my machines have had any issues. The common denominator seems to be that the machines that broke had previously had infections of some kind.
That would be wise, but most people don't know how to do such things.

I would love to buy an updated disk from microsoft with SP1 on it, that isn't available either?
I was able to get unmolested SP1 x64 & x86 ISO's for Windows 7 Home Premium (Retail) from the Bay (confirmed by the SHA1 hash). They can then be turned into any of the other retail flavors with the some modification with the utility I linked to earler (also confirmed by matching SHA1 hashes).I would love to buy an updated disk from microsoft with SP1 on it, that isn't available either?
I have an office full of win7 machines and after this experience will probably be phasing the install over a couple week period.
