Try putting something that monitors CPU/chipset temps in there. One of the chips might be overheating. Or just remove/replace the heatsinks.

The ESTool needs to be run out of AHCI mode, so it test fine there. I assume windows 7 won't boot if I take it out of AHCI mode though. So I can't really test that. It sounds like a weird hard drive electronics failure to me. I'm just ordering a replacement and not worrying about the warranty.

Samsung ESTool 3.00g says there is no problem with them. Running chkdsk in safe mode says no problem. But running chkdsk in windows causes it to reboot and when rebooting the intel AHCI bios can't see my boot drive anymore, so it says no boot drive. Cold booting resolves the issue. I haven't...

Issue was using files from server 2003 SP2. I switched the the SP1 versions like in the tutorial and it worked. Deleting some files now, running a chkdsk.

Well it starts to boot, loads the ramdisk and then hangs at Please Wait. I used 2003 SP2 instead of SP1 and an OEM XP SP3 CD.

Works fine is relative. It works fine on my system until it crashes unexpectedly. Haven't used it enough in windows 7 64bit yet to see if that still happens. But in XP 64bit it used to happen about every 3rd time I used it.

Passed on the acura. Found a 2001 Subaru Legacy GT Sedan with manual transmission. 156000 miles. Bought that today. My search is over.

I still use VSS just about every day.
