Yeah it was called MSDE (sql server 7) or sql server desktop edition (sql server 8) or most recently sql server 2005 express edition. It is free. It doesn't have forms. I'm not sure it comes with the sql tools, but you can download winsql for free.
It had/has certain restrictions on the...
I'm personally offended. I'm a VB guy. And I'm a great programmer. I do VB6 still, VB.net for web stuff, and VBA which used to be mostly word vba but now is vba embedded in our flagship product Elite Enterprise. Now vba in a non-ms app is an adventure. Stuff is half implemented or not...
I'm lucky in that most of the sites I work on are restricted to IE only and aren't public facing. So they don't have to be beautiful. And they don't have to work in FF. But in my workflow I generate html versions of the pages and test those in firefox to make sure the javascript is cross browser.
If I were to recommend a migration strategy it would be an MSDE backend (sql server desktop edition) with an access front end. A lot of form stuff is just easier in access than vb or vb.net.
Actually it can do it at those and custom ones you specify. A friend recently asked me for help creating 1MB spanned versions. You can specify the MB or KB.
7zip rocks, my personal favorite.
SourceSafe is horrible over internet or VPN connections.
It works fine on the LAN though.
Don't even think about suggesting that though Merc.
My experience with document management systems is only in dismissing their stupid dialogs in MS word when I'm working on client's machines. The law...

That page has some ghost alternatives listed.
I used one call partition saving. It was free. It worked but too well.
Copied the bad sector count too.
Although I am a software patent holder, I think software patents should go away. While I believe you can make software that passes the novel idea test, I think they are being abused and copyright of the source code is probably enough protection. Certainly enough to still get royalties, no...
My thought is they are a web hosting company not running some sort of raid on their servers in the first place?!? And just raid 1? I'd think they'd want raid 1+0 or whatever number that is when you require at least 4 drives and 1 spare and have mirroring and striping.
I should probably check...
Here I thought it might have something to do with the new WGA thing they released. I thought you'd probably have to recertify or whatever they call it before you see IE7 as an update.
1st problem was fixed by taking out the hard drive.
2nd problem was fixed by reattaching the usb headers to the motherboard.
I must have unplugged them to route wires when I put the new hard drives in and forgot to reattach them. Now the scanner works fine when plugged into the dell monitor...
I had problems with either that corrupting my network traffic or the nvida ethernet port being bad. If I used it, it seemed to randomly scramble downloads. A binary comparison revealed all the data was there but not in the correct order. I switched to using the other network port which isn't...
Here's what I think MS should have done. Or maybe it is just a random idea.
Make every app that wants to connect to the internet opt in when it is installed. Some sort of registry key which says you need to connect to the internet and on what ports. The user can agree to this during install...
What kind of places are you going to?
I remember during my summer internship at boeing's plant here in PA as tech support, having to be blindfolded to go into one of the super secret areas. All I was doing was an antivirus new version deployment.
Another notable experience at boeing was this...
So my computer has exhibited a couple problems since I added those two drives and I think I know what the problems are but just wanted to run it by all of you to confirm.
1st Problem:
When I start the computer, it sometimes hangs at the bios screen and doesn't do the hard drive detection. If I...
When reading chewy's latest post did anybody else picture him sitting for coffee with the letter L from sesame street. Like a person in an L letter suit. And then the letter K comes by?
This post was brought to you today by the letter F.
Merc, have you considered a professional match maker...
I think you can do this if you setup a web proxy and then set it to be really slow.
I see http://www.netlimiter.com/ will probably help you and
this link from google seems like it will as well

IE7 prints my pay checks on one page which is nice, unlike IE6 which used two pages. And I have to use IE to print them as Firefox misses some of the data when printing. I assume this is a print styling problem. The whole HR site is pretty browser dumb.
The corporate policy won't let us...
Found it! In the transfers tab there is a view menu at the top near the stop and retransfer buttons. Clicking it reveals three options, one of which is show transfers tab in background.
Now if I could just get it to stop making my desktop flash when I open a bunch of bookmarks in tabs I would...
Opera calls downloads transfers. I thought that was silly.
But it always wants to bring the transfers tab to the front when I download something. Anybody know how to change this? something like open transfers tab in background or something? I looked in the prefs and couldn't find one.
I say meet her in person. But go into it not with the mindset of ditching her. Try to honestly give her a chance. Though that will be hard now because you've already decided to ditch her.
Then if she isn't what you expected or isn't for you, just tell her you don't want to lead her on and...
