    Hard Drive Configuration Ponderings

I bought that sata drive carrier thing from granite digital. I wasn't 100% pleased. It had what looked like a used contact on the back. See Pictures. And the mating of the internal sata data connection is not in as far as I'd like. And there is no drive activity indication, both lights are on...

    Little DOS help with wildcards

Can you tell me in plain English or pseudo code what you are trying to do? I think you are trying to run that if statement for each iteration of the for statement. But I don't think that is what is happening. Your do ends on the first line I think.

    FTP Batch File?

We used to use ftp batch files at work to deploy executables to application servers. I believe the username and password had to be in the file itself and you had to use a switch like -p or something. looking up the command line options in my xp cmd shell gives me: FTP [-v] [-d] [-i] [-n] [-g]...

    Confirmed: My ex is...

Someone told me the key to marriage is to make the decision to love that person every day. When you stop making that decision daily, you will start drifting apart. I've been with my wife since high school. About 15 years and we've been married for 7. I don't think anyone should get married...

    Seagate 500GB SATA OEM $150 USD + $6 S&H

Nevermind, the product page at hasbro says: Pony's maximum weight limit is 80 lbs./36kg. I guess they lied on the show about 200lbs.

    Seagate 500GB SATA OEM $150 USD + $6 S&H

I was watching HGTV the other day as they had a bunch of holiday gift guides. In the toy one there was a robotic pony that you could sit on (up to 200 lbs). It moved its head and did a bunch of other stuff. I don't think it let you ride it though, just sit on it. I think I know what we should...

NEWZ: World's First Firewall For Hard Drives

    POS BIO Failure

POS = point of sale And I think merc is correct too. Anyway most of the time the gas pump authorizes your card by putting a 1 dollar charge on it. Later after the transaction is complete the full amount goes in. You can look online and see if the credit card has any charges yet. My guess is...

State of the union, help me choose/design new PC

It isn't about CPU time with printing in a separate thread. It is about responsiveness of the main application. Printing involves communication with another device and the delays and interrupt handling that comes with that. Kind of like handling I/O to the hard drive in a separate thread.

    SATA optical drives

I think this is what happens but maybe somebody can clarify. When you boot from a drive it isn't windows supporting it, it is the bios. Further it starts in like a backwards compatible mode I think. Think DOS mode. The bios reads the boot image on the install cd. This boot image is usually...

State of the union, help me choose/design new PC

Good to see you Probably some are more qualified then me to make the state of the union but the state is as follows. CPU makers are going towards multi-core chips not just dual and the focus on clock speed isn't there. The focus now is on power consumption and a metric of performance per...

    3v lithium batteries

Well I think the only difference between the 1220 and the 2032 and others like the 2025 are not the size but the maximum amps or in this case miliamps. So I think you can use a 2032 in something that takes a 1220 but if you used a 1220 in something that takes a 2032 it would not have enough...

    SPAM from SR

SQL injection is difficult to protect against and often overlooked. It is so easy to write code that uses variables directly in a sql statement. Much more code is required to do it right than not. It is worse with a public database schema like a bulletin board. You've given them the blueprint.
