    Nested VMWare VMs

Current high-end Intel CPUs support VT-x/EPT which allows nested virtualisation instances. However I don't know if VMWare player can actually do it itself. (IIRC, ESXi can, but don' know about Player).

@Re: HTC - Incidentally everyone I know that an HTC mobile loves it, and have very few issues with it. (The HTC Sense UI is IMHO better than Samsung's TouchWiz UI). The hardware even in their entry level stuff is very very good. I've noticed the majority of people have fewer hardware based...

    Network Packet Analysis

Hi All, Does anyone know of software that can do packet analysis besides Wireshark and Network Miner? The capture files are all pcap files, so it should be able to handle those and ideally be based on the idea of forensics quality analysis... eg generate SHA1/MD5 hashes of complete streams...

Simply wait for the returns and bitching from the masses... I certainly hope their sales staff are educated before the launch, however I expect the leagcy side of things will result in low sales (and eventual discountation of product). AFAIC, when people see windows, they expect to be able to...

I need more drive space. What brand/drive is good these days?

As long as you have the latest Intel drivers for the ICH, then you are fine (as long as you don't want to boot from it). (IIRC, 4K sector support was added with the ICH9 with a particular driver set). PS. ICH9 was the ICH chipset with the X38/X48 series chipsets. When I was looking for a 2TB or...

    OpenIndiana vs Solaris 11 zones

Sol10 does support VNICs, but lack the virtual switching, routing and link throttling that possible with crossbow. BTW, the T4-4 gets you a unified 2TB of memory space... something that the blade setup lacks. (Mind you I would take the blade setup over a T4-4 anyday).

Well, if they are running purely single threaded applications on a T2, someone didn't do their homework! PS. Oracle announced that the T4-4 server can now configured with up to 2TB of RAM, in 4 socket configurations. (4 sockets = 4 CPU w/8 cores /w8 threads per core = 32cores or 256 hardware...

Congratulations! Well, you could replace the 23 servers with 2-4 dual-socket 6 or 8 core Xeons based servers, and absolutely blow away performance (over the single i7 setup), and not to mention SAVE $$ on power and cooling. (If they are intent on spending money). It certainly sounds like they...

    OpenIndiana vs Solaris 11 zones

Not at all, the simple solutions are often the best when dealing with zones. RBAC to the rescue... # usermod -K defaultpriv=basic,net_privaddr <username> where <username> is the user that the process runs under. This will give the user access to any port below 1024, not just 443. I assume...

    OpenIndiana vs Solaris 11 zones

I wasn't aware ports were filtered by default in zone setups, unless you've enabled the firewall? Also have you setup any flows within the virtual switch? But what you are describing about being under 1024 not accessible, by default only root (or root equivalent) users or applications running...

Bubble sort is really slow compared to most others. Typically it depends on the underlying data structure of the list/vector, but most go with either a merge sort or a quick sort.
