I know they promoted that as a feature on Vista, but I don't recall MS touting it with Win7... (I did know it exists, because everytime I went to start windows update, anytime update was listed).

How to setup a remote access on a Linux box?

To follow up what Merc said, but with instructions... When you boot Linux in Single User Mode, you don't need a password. To access Single User Mode, at the GRUB boot loader, edit the current selection (IIRC, it's 'e' option), and add 'Single' to the end of the line. Exit the edit mode. Boot...

Increased SSD Performance with relaxed retention...

The sad thing is, with the decreasing process size used for NAND, it has not only decreases the number of write cycles, but also played a little bit with the data retention capability/reliability. (Since you have less atoms holding a given state).

Hi Guys, Just was quickly browsing the following paper called "Optimizing NAND Flash-Based SSDs via Retention Relaxation". The basic premise is that in order to store data for a long period with NAND flash, say hold it's contents for 10yrs (being the current industry expectation or there...

    2TB drives under the duopoly

I tend to agree with B^3. Out of all the SCSI drives I've had, they tended to fail less than IDE/SATA drives. (I can think of only 3 failures in 100's of drives - with all running 24/7 for 3 yrs). However, I will stress this, all those drives were hot-swap 80pin in proper chassis with adequate...

    Android phones: Tips, tricks?

Yes, true with the wonderful side effects of lowered total write cycles (in some cases around 1000 writes), decreased reliability (due to die shrink), and slower performance per bit (3 bit TLC is roughly 3x slower than SLC and 2x slower than MLC - with higher latency).
