I'd hold off just a bit, it seems Noctua missed a potential rattle in the G2. Currently offering full refunds. They are handling the situation in the best way possible, and are still the go-to in my opinion, but I'd just wait until they are shipping units where this issue is resolved...

My understanding of the CrowdStrike issue is that many large firms were running their "Falcon" cloud-based security software, and that all computers that received the patch pushed yesterday immediately went into BSOD boot-loops. With the fix requiring a tech to be hands-on with each impacted...

I haven't had to do that in 5+ years, but I just used an online service? Can't remember the name, but I didn't want to be bothered with software or an analog phone line I had no use for. The service allowed me to send an email to them, with the destination number in the subject, and just about...

My preferred (and usually more expensive) local reseller has them in stock, pickup in 2h, for 296 USD. That includes all taxes, etc. Not sure how that compares to the US, as I haven't bought anything that wasn't solid state in a very long time.

It is shocking how much the Danes love Microsoft. Every company runs 365 including Sharepoint, even to the point of using Teams. The gaps accommodate surface mount components around the edge. That heatspreader is also so thick that removing it allows a massive improvement in cooling. Intel's heat issues are bad enough that they are now allowing some certified installers to remove the heatsink for the improved direct-die...

I also think DP and HDMI will both be around in a few years. HDMI because the adoption cycle of home theater equipment is slow, and it will be hanging around, and DP because it is the superior connector. I also think lots of things will be going USB-C, it is just too cheap and easy to stick on...

Modern Intel CPUs are designed to just keep turning up the clockspeed and voltage until either the power consumed by the CPU hits the programmed limit (this can be bypassed) or the temperature of the CPU hits a certain limit. Since any cooler effectively has a maximum number of watts it can...

I'm running Win11, so my screenshots won't help you. Right-click on the network icon in the taskbar (down near the clock) and choose "properties" or something similar to that. There should be something called "link speed" or similar.

    Network the NAS

In Windows you should be able to see what speed the network connection has negotiated. Just make sure it hasn't settled on 1Gb. If it has, I'd start by swapping out the cable (just cause it is easy), then mess with drivers.

I suspect that AMD is in a similar boat as Intel, basically clocking until thermal throttling.
