Best Hard drives for size, storage, and reliability?

Likely I'll copy most of this stuff to the drive, then remove the drive from service, waiting for the others to fail. 2 TB is about 1000 dollars in movies. So, the drive will have 2 grand in movies on it.

Congrats Sedrosken! I'm 130 grand in the hole. I got hooked on teaching special education for 10 years, after graduating from law school. Best Hard drives for size, storage, and reliability?

I'm finding everytime I find a drive for a good price, on amazon, there is a catch. For instance the product page will say a 5 year warranty on a new drive. The one with the 155.00 price tag states a 1 year warranty, and the drive is bare, or OEM. The rest are 220.00 and up, that state 5 year...

One website, run by the NCAA, arbitersports.com, seems to work by far the best when using the latest IE. I use it for that one website pretty much exclusively. Latest version of FF doesn't seem to like Twitter login. But works on Chrome. Go figure. Just downloaded Palemoon. Seems ok, and I...

Best Hard drives for size, storage, and reliability?

The data loss is a lot. You take each Bluray disk, at 20-30 dollars average, 40-50 gigs each, and you have 40 times 20-30 dollars lost, with this 120 dollar drive gone. Replacement? Where are you all getting, or renting Bluray disks these days? All those were from Blockbuster. Gone. I guess...

Best Hard drives for size, storage, and reliability?

Hi Just had an external 2 TB Seagate die at 2.5 years, on a 3 year warranty. I'm after internal drives, in the 2-4 TB range, that will last. 3-6 years is good. NAS? Newegg has the 2 TB models for around 120. They suck on service. Costco? Just returned a 2 TB, after it died, pulled it out...

    Retiring the AXP

IIRC, I went from an Athlon 3200, and switched that out for a dual core 3800 for something like 30 dollars. Doubled the speed of the processor for 30 dollars? How can you beat that? It's still running, and since I have a Xerox dinosauer 130df Laser printer that has drivers only in XP, and...

This must be slow, DD: Time to upgrade?

My thoughts. The front of the 180 is really annoying. I don't like to have to open the front of the box every time I turn on the computer, and the plastic stuff they use to secure it is weak, and bended. Right now I have propped it so the front will not allow cat hair to enter, and will have to...

I've recently installed Nod 32 mobile from eset. It's really kind of scary how many programs have access to all data, and most people give it to them, when they don't need it, at all. Why does Costco's and 24 Hour Fitness need to have pretty much root access to my data, email lists, etc...

I don't think DD is really in the "amateur anti-static procedures" category as a machine builder. Originally it was DD's machine... I do realize that was a dig at me, and thanks for that, but, you missed. More likely, I have a motherboard that simply went south. Out of two athlon- gigabyte...
