    Windows 8.1

One of the considerations I've had is getting a laptop with a faster processor, and to be able to take advantage of the faster SATA bus. However, with the even a IDE Kingspec SSD, the hard drive performance is fast enough so I don't think it's the bottle neck: Ethernet speed transfers are in...

I agree. The drives are slow by current standards: I think to really be able to tell any difference I would have to increase data transfer by something incredible, like this: Be honest I can't really tell the difference between one old Vertex Turbo 3 and the X-25M's in Raid O. How much...

I'm trying to figure out if it's worth buying into MSFT's integration of 8, on phone, laptop, and my home machine. I have a very hard time believing I'd be able to notice the difference between 7 and 8 on the i7 940, home machine. I don't think it would be compatible with the hardware in my...

He's a beauty. We have them all over around here. They soar, and pick off whatever is in the long, dry grass. Never had one on the porch railing, however. Had foxes, skunks, deer, and a mountain lion, but that's all. I forgot: we have a BUNCH of turkeys and geese that live on the golf course...

Oddly, one of our forum members believes the ide option to be more stable then AHCI. Considering I have dual X-25s in raid zero, and it's been going a long time, he seems to be right. Not slow, either.

My 2nd laptop, a Lenovo Thinkpad or a Toshiba Tecra?

I keep looking for something with a modern processor, bus, ram, and ethernet connection, read cable. This morning riding a bike, at least in our area, puts you in the 6 degree wind chill area. Since yours was a tropical 33 degrees, it was only about 15 degrees on a bike. I did think about you this morning when I saw a frosted golf course out the front window.

Hi I'm wondering how people are reducing their Bluray disks for storage? One of the reasons here is the price differential for 25 gig vs. 50 gig Bluray disks. A lot of movies are under 25 Gigs, but, with all the bundled previews they come in at 40 gigs, or more. So: What software have you...

Power consumption for the home: or how those LED's do really work...

AS for the LED's and mini-flors: the leds emit less light, but project it a bit better, in a clear, more focused direction. This works great for most ceiling mounted fixtures, since I want the light pointing down, not lighting the ceiling. With the old popcorn ceiling it eats light, due to it's...

Photo editing software for Windows 7?
