    Sealed Computer Chassis

Chewy, sorry I didn't reply earlier. None of the cases that they offer are completely sealed. Airborne particles (some magnetic and conductive, most thermally inulating) are what I'm trying to avoid.

I want to built one of these so bad; I'll do it for anyone here at just the cost of parts. Just let me know. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yVpXDnKehe_lIthkwYhvviuqB7WYItQLTraJpKZoZkw/edit?usp=sharing Once I find a customer or two I might make one for myself.

It could, but that makes warranty returns or servicing significantly harder.

    Sealed Computer Chassis

Thanks for the idea sdbardwick. Going to a larger internal radiator isn't that big an issue; I've designed the case to fit larger if needed, though I'd just go to normal waterblocks on CPU/etc if they were a significant point source.

I also wrote that a radiator inside the case will handle any additional heat buildup from other components. For a lower-end computer (like the P3 I mentioned earlier), the water loop may just be a radiator inside the chassis picking up heat and dumping it to a radiator outside the chassis.

    Sealed Computer Chassis

Several of the computers that will be housed in these chassis are made and sold by some of our software vendors. They contain specific hardware configurations that need to be maintained (P3 with a specific chipset and a several custom PCI cards). They are happy to sell us these computers in $60...

    Sealed Computer Chassis

Looking to have a sealed, water cooled, rack mount chassis built by Protocase. This will allow installation in really dirty industrial or commercial locations. No HDD mounts (M.2 and PCIe will be fine). Normal PSU is mounted internally to recirculate internal air. Hot components will have their...

Potential Upgrades to My New "Vomit Box"

A couple years ago Ars calculated that writing to an SSD (forget which one) continuously at max speed couldn't reach the wear life within the warranty period. This isn't something that I worry about.

Here the only structured bonus is a profit-sharing plan; once you are full-time and salary for more than 2 years you receive some percentage of net profits proportional to your base pay. This number is so far divorced from my performance that it has no impact on how I do my job. I will...

My office is out in the boonies; miles from anything. The closest food is a country club that my boss owns and I support. Good food, excellent service, and just as fast as driving a bit further to get drive-thru. The only catch is that I'd go broke eating there twice a day.

PC Gaming = World of Suck

In EVE Online, one of the favorite hobbies of the group I'm with is to find gamers who are live-streaming and shit-talking, stalk them down in-game, and embarrass them in front of their audience. Just killing them isn't enough; try to do it with the weakest possible ship, or find other assets...

For Sale: 2x Titan X (old version) w/water blocks plumbed for SLI (stock coolers too)

The blocks are card specific; they'll only work with 980s and that generation of Titan X. I don't have a gaming system on order that would fit this product. I suppose I could build out a full rig an put that up for sale, but that is more cost, as well.

I'd completely agree with that. I wouldn't be surprised if the current value is less than one of the cards originally. Depreciation on products with this fast a lifecycle is pretty brutal.

HTPC upgrade? New mobo + CPU + RAM only

The advantage of oversized cases is that you can position fans inside the chassis right next to the components that you care about. I hope to be revising my personal rig today (if the kid lets me). I'll post some pics when I can.

SSDs - State of the Product?

It does, but I just put a car on it. ;) It would fit both, but then I wouldn't be able to pay it off this month. Even 20W continuous output would get darn hot without significant active airflow. Particularly if you have many of them in a chassis.

To me that indicates that the fan is mainly preventing air from flowing the opposite direction. Try just blocking off that part of the case and see what happens.

Nvidia’s GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 revealed: Faster than Titan X at half the price

To get what (I think) you are after will require two things. 1. The monitor to support a "1:1" mode, where it doesn't try to stretch or scale the image to fill the screen. 2. A video card capable of displaying the resolution you want. Most will do this, but finding where in their driver to add...

All the manufacturers seem to still think that SSDs are a premium item and price accordingly. You'd probably be better off buying one without, a separate SSD, and a drive cloning tool. But that is effort and complicates warranty work.
