    BIOS Hangs with Old Drives

I think you're on the right track with SATA modes in the BIOS. Can you force them into IDE mode? Maybe even SATA1 (150)? Try disabling all the ports you can?

A fairly recent thing to think about is that many brands now ship special fans for high static pressure in addition to the usual series. Would your application benefit from this?

Nvidia’s GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 revealed: Faster than Titan X at half the price

Yup. At best in gaming I've seen 1.8x or so. Average is probably 1.5x. Combine that with games that won't run with an SLI setup at all (Eve Online and others), and it is a no-brainer.

Nvidia’s GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 revealed: Faster than Titan X at half the price

So I'll be replacing the 2x "Titan X" in my home rig with 1x "Titan X" and expect a ~30% performance improvement. That isn't confusing at all....

    GTX1060 vs RX480

The only time I've felt the need is when they don't offer a card big enough. One Titan X wasn't enough, so I used two. One 1080 is totally enough, so I won't be bothering.

    GTX1060 vs RX480

I'm pretty sure I'm done with SLI for these reasons. NVidia has made it clear that they are trying to get away from supporting multiple card setups as much as possible. There are those new card/vendor agnostic systems, but I don't see them being that big a thing either.

We played CnC: Generals Zero Hour and Battlefield 4. This was a really interesting experience. The people that came over used to work for me or were regulars at the game center I owned in Monterey. At the time they were kids or close to (oldest was 19). I want to buy a new car

It is entirely possible that gas prices end up going down and staying down. All that is required is for demand to shrink a bit. EVs are still selling even though gas prices are low. The most difficult industry to substitute gas is aviation, IMO.

Do you maintain personal secure storage?

The poll wasn't for cold storage, it was for any storage. Folders with files that you don't want to lose. How do you store them, how do you maintain backups, what level of redundancy satisfies your paranoia, etc. IMO, cold storage is not reliable enough to be counted in most redundancy...

I want to buy a new car

Do not want a hybrid. The added complexity and weight of two different propulsion systems in a car causes an allergic reaction in me. Also, the performance of the Volt seems pretty lame. The cheapest AWD Model S has a 0-60 of 5.2s. Slower than what I have now, but enough. The numbers I can see...

That is the reason I'm keeping the Golf R on the list. I've seen one with 45k miles got $45k before. I might go for that, maybe $50k for one with the higher performance options.

Do you maintain personal secure storage?

This poll was inspired by snowhiker asking about the cold-storage / shelf-life of data on SSDs. I'm of the impression that any kind of cold-storage is too much of a risk for data you care about. There are many levels of redundancy that can be taken, but I'd imagine most here at least have a...

SSDs - State of the Product?

SSDs - State of the Product?

The trick to making Amazon links work is to not use your own address bar. On the right side of the product page, above the "Add to Cart" button is a simple link called "Share". This will give you a URL that will work for everyone following it, whether they are logged in or not, or whatever...

Even their smaller units would do that pretty easily. The main question then is how much antenna you'll need to use to acquire the source signal. It really depends on the size of the area you need to cover, and whether the source antenna can be reached using reasonable effort. I have their large system driving a pair of giant outdoor panel antennas and providing coverage to an acre or so including warehouses.
