The GPU cooler itself is likely fairly optimal, but the backplate would probably benefit from more thermal mass and larger surface area (at least that has been the case with previous GPUs). If you are willing to compromise the slot above it provides an effective secondary route for heat...

Bah, I'd fix them, but you can at least see what I was looking at. I wanted a newer Lian-Li chassis, featured in the video below. The 950Pro will certainly get heatsinks, and possibly the 1080 as well. https://youtu.be/CQXIyvsWTNA There is a NAS, no significant local storage is necessary. 512GB...

Once microtransaction systems become ubiquitous, there is a plausible solution to this and SPAM. No message or call is delivered without a small payment. The payment goes to the recipient. If you send and receive about the same number of messages and calls, you break even. If you try to contact...

It is just an absurd gaming box. Additional cores beyond 4 is nearly useless. Max clock (and IPC) is key. Only PCIe device will be the single GPU. I've never seen a game successfully eat even 32GB of RAM, much less 64. Expandability is not relevant. This system will be replaced entirely when...

That is a tricky one. All other things being equal, what you are looking for is a sensor with less noise at higher ISO. There isn't a good metric for this, just have to read the reviews. The other thing that allows better low-light pictures is to open the aperture, but as we discussed this...

I'm typically 5-10' away. My wife doesn't complain about feature distortion so long as I stay above 18-20mm. A smaller f-number means that the aperture is larger. This lets in more light, but narrows the depth of field. Putting the camera in Av mode (this lets you set the aperture and the...

    Mic/Audio troubleshooting

I actually had a spare mixing board. Problem identified-ish. Swapping the Onkyo receiver with a spare resolved the problem. This is hard to explain, as other inputs to the receiver played fine, and swapping the mixer to a different input didn't resolve the issue. I'll be picking up the old one...

I've tried with two separate, identical mics (Sennheiser AVX e835) each with their own receiver, two copies of the Behringer Xenyx 802, then wired into an Onkyo TX-NR646 and onto some speakers. Other sources play fine, but either mic only plays the lowest frequencies. I've made sure all the...

Tannin likely got this one right as well. Using the thermal camera, the ceiling is no warmer than interior walls. Nvidia’s GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 revealed: Faster than Titan X at half the price

Another point worth making is that GPU tasks are absurdly parallel. This makes just throwing more cores at something a completely viable solution. CPUs would have made much larger strides if this was the case.

It really depends on how much space you have. With the current cost of panels (so low), it is rare for tracking mounts to be more effective than more panels. I suppose it depends on how good your backup infrastructure is.
