Of course he may also be wealthy enough for that; I have no idea. Application of IT to life covers a lot of areas or peple may just do other things. I know one guy retired in early 50s and decided to design landscapes or something like that.

Maybe they reorganized for legal/financial reasons but it's the same IT guys since Eugene sold the nearly abandoned site years ago. The loss of the forums was about 2-3 years ago. The forums were nearly dead and did not reflect the enterprise focus of the new SR. Basically the reviews consist...

It is doubtful that I could afford the weight penalty of 7040HS-powered laptops, but they are probably good. :( I wish AMD would make a desktop CPU with better videos than the 5700G. What is that about a shed???

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

I have that CS, but am trying to deal with the luminance noise incurred due to the MILS (R5). When I tested the camera and denoising of 2021 (TOPaz and DXO) acceptable results from the inherently noisy sensor could be obtained from the TOPaz. Obviously if I had known that the software was being...

    Need a Decent Phone

I had Swype keyboard on a phone some years ago, but it's missing as an option now. :( I'm not seeing major differences, but maybe OpenBoard is good enough? It has the FOSS and supposedly doesn't send your data to AI bots to predict your writing.

Unfortunately ToPAz is all over the place and PhotoAI seems to be in a permanent beta mode. It changes every week and there is no redistributable version as with their previous software. What's so personal about a phone number? I have at least three phone numbers, plus one at work. Only about a half-dozen people text me regularly on #2, then there are spammers and a few legit business texts on phone #1. Mostly phone #1 is for the incessant 2FA texts from every system at work...

    Binoculars?

Donna Karan, like New York. LOL I used to like the Zeiss Victory series of binoculares. They don't give the reach of a spotting scope, but the brain combines the imges so you get some extra IQ from that and a good FOV. I think that a MILS EVF display would be annoying and nauseous after a while.

    Binoculars?

No, a 100-400 with 2x will not outperform good binoculars. It sounds like you are finally shipping stuff, so you can use some old gear. Are you learning Finnish or do they speak enough English?

    Binoculars?

At 600 or 800mm, you are looking at very expensive prime lenses that are not worth it at far distances over water. There are some inexpensive zooms that get to 600mm, but not 800. See my post above.
  34. LunarMist

    Binoculars?

The Canon IS binocs aren't the best optically, but for many people the IS more than makes up for it when hand held. Assuming you can open the windows a spotting scope on a small tripod is probably better. At 1km, the air quality will be usually be limiting so nothing will look so great.

I had the Epic Pro, which was such a joke for $900. The construction was flimsy and unstable in the mechanism. I tried to tighten the bogus dovetail and it broke. I replaced some of the clamps/rails, but it could not manage a 1Ds III and 70-200/4 IS with stability. Then the company went bust...
