The alternator produces 3 phase AC that is rectified to DC. Much more efficient and able to produce more power in a smaller package.
The alternators have fields that are in the rotor rather than part of the housing, the case does not have to be steel. Alternators have an aluminum case...

"This has more to do with the fact that those old DC generators used permanent magnets which weren't all that powerful (hence the much larger sizes). Alternators use field windings instead. Much of the advantage has vanished with rare earth magnets. Look to the RC world for how powerful...
Mubs:
My central air unit uses more power than all of our TVs, phones, and computers combined. Converting it to DC would cost a fortune.
Distribution of DC is a nightmare. Thomas Edison tried it in NYC. He had to put a generating plant about every 5 blocks. His system failed.
There was a...
If you would like to clean up the Win 10 install, use 'Disk Cleanup' from the properties menu. If you select to delete system files it will remove Windows.old and all the setup crap. In my case it cut the Win 10 footprint in half.
If I understand correctly, if I upgrade a Win 7 install, I can then use the install media (a DVD) to format that upgrade, and install a fresh copy of Win 10, no questions ask? As long as it's the same hardware?
Does this work on a virtual machine.
I should have been more specific. I am seeing more TVs and monitors that are curved.
I pissed off the sales guy in an appliance store. I ask him why their curved TV wasn't on the wall with the rest of the TVs, so you can compare it to the other TVs. He started telling me how they wanted to...
I read somewhere that these smart TVs are reporting back on what you watching. And, some of these TVs have a camera built in, so it can watch you. I'll see if I can find the article.
Don't plug it into the internet.
I used my veterans benefits to go back to school. I didn't join with the post service benefits in mind. I was drafted. As I look back, being drafted was a good thing. Some of the choices I made were taking me down a path that lead to nothing good. Three years in the Army and a trip to Vietnam...
Memorial Day here in the US is to remember all men and women that were killed in a military action for our country.
Please take a moment to thank them. Special places
Have a great Memorial Day weekend.

I've had the same thing happen to me. It's Windows problem. I believe that Windows has a hard time finding where everything is on the new hard drive. After a couple of reboots, it's fine.
I have interruptible service on my ac. It only shut off the compressor during high loads.
The systems I installed actually disabled the hot water devices and the electric cloths dryer during the day.
The owners had an emergency override. But they paid a huge premium for using it.
I don't know...
I've installed heating and hot water systems that only ran at night. The "on-off" switch was in the electric meter. The homes had two 120 gallon hot water heaters and a 400 gallon hot water storage tank for hot water base board heat. The heaters ran overnight(7 PM to 5 AM) and stored it for use...
One of the things we found out about when our son was in collage; move out of your parents house. This will open the vault doors to scholarship and grant money. He also got a job as an intern at a large manufacturing company that paid well.
He worked his ass off, but when he graduated (after 5...
I also had slow copying to an internal drive that is on a removable tray. I stated using Robocopy and running it from a command prompt. Huge improvement in speed.
I also wrote a small batch file that runs from the command prompt. Again, a huge improvement in speed.
Seems odd the 25+ year old...
I use 25 watt soldering 'iron'. Plug it into an electrical outlet, wait for it to get hot, then use. What I would like to know is how do you keep tip clean? If I leave it on for as short as 30 minutes, the tip has crud on it.
I've read that you can have the tip coated with silver solder and...
Is Mark's passing the first one for either Storage Forum or Storage Review that we know of??
