    Digital / e-Signature

I recently had to dig into the cert wormhole here (when you want a piece of "The Cloud" hosted locally you get into all kinds of mess). At the end of the day I had the vendor providing the software deal with it.

DIY Tesla power wall - how feasible is this?

This one isn't for the back yard. I need to relay a wireless signal into a canyon we're going to start mining. Most open mines are built into the back side of hills so you can't see them from the main valley, this makes line of sight from our other facilities difficult. I've had a plastic garden...

    Booting from GPT disk

Even my NAS boxes have SSDs for the OS ;) Shrinking the W7 partition and putting both on the SSD seems to make the most sense. It will also give you an apples/apples comparison of the speed.

DIY Tesla power wall - how feasible is this?

I'm going with a deep-cycle lead for my current project. The draw and charge are going to be slow enough compared to the capacity of the pack, and the weight and size of the box will be mostly irrelevant. Well, it will matter to a few people on the day they deploy it, but I'm going to be...

DIY Tesla power wall - how feasible is this?

Each of the cells is individually fused, so that helps. Metal box is a good idea. Clear of the house is a better idea. I'm currently putting together a garden shed with solar panels, battery array, and inverter for off-grid use. We'll see how it does.

    Booting from GPT disk

Installing OSes on drives with data scares me quite a bit. In fact, installing OSes on drives with an existing partition structure isn't something I've done in years. If there is space on the SSD that already has 7, I'd disconnect your data drives and install 10 alongside 7 if it lets you...

LG V10 available with intro deal - 200GB micro sd, 3000MaH battery, charge cradle

My G4 got the same update at the same time. Interesting. The 1DX II is a fun looking camera, but I'd be using the network connection over the others.

LG V10 available with intro deal - 200GB micro sd, 3000MaH battery, charge cradle

Type-C is the new regular socket. You will live long enough to have to make at least one more switch. This is also the first new connector of all the ones you listed that has an actual advantage; it is fully reversible. It can also handle more power and faster data while in theory being more...

Can't do it that way. During the copy, when you are being hard on the drives, you don't have a backup.

Backing up and restoring is better in all ways except that you need to have 200%+ your array capacity online at the same time. Also, when 1GbE was the thing an array backup and restore would have taken longer.

DIY Tesla power wall - how feasible is this?

I've been watching this guy for a couple weeks now. He seems to have a good-enough grasp on what he is talking about. Of course, the big money thing not mentioned here is that neither his (nor the Tesla) include the inverter that would be required to make it work with your house. Going through...

Many of the larger or tech employers around here have free charging stations in the parking lot. Some of them actually have competition for the spots, and make you go take turns during the day. I'll end up negotiating with the boss about having one installed at my spot. This will be much easier...

Mid-tier UPSes these days have SNMP capabilities, that would allow you to log data from the wall at some frequency. This would allow you to aggregate large amounts of data and put together statistics which could compel action.

    Tesla doomed

What a complete pile of crap. There were enough giant assumptions and cherry-picking of facts in the first half that I didn't bother to continue. Assumption 1: As soon as the big three decide to get into the EV game, they will immediately do it better and cheaper. Assumption 2: That gas and...

That depends on who is currently running your e-mail. I'm a firm believer that everyone should have their own domain, that way they can keep their e-mail address no matter what and have whomever they like run it for them (among other advantages). Cost is well under $100/year for all of it, setup...

I'm still running the big-dog Routerboard at my place. Super powerful, very capable (if complex) interface. That plus a UAP-AC Pro for every room should solve your problems and blast everyone else into the stone age.
