Microsoft Moving to Per-Core Licencing for Server 2016

This. One of our software vendors was facing a huge backlash for using Oracle, and has eaten high costs converting their product back to MSSQL. For reference, I can buy the entire MSSQL package and the backup program for the cost of one year's maintenance for the Oracle install that does the...

    Headphones

In pursuit of more low end in headphone use, I'm looking at the HE400i (possibly 560?). I have no experience with planar magnetic units, and understand that I'll also need an amp to power them? Pretty sure I'd benefit from closed-back units as well.

    question Truecrypt

I'm still suggesting TrueCrypt to clients. Interesting security step one of them added was to hard mount the UPS so that the tower would have to lose power when stolen. Theoretically they could hang out in the office, but the alarm and guard would discourage that.

Microsoft Moving to Per-Core Licencing for Server 2016

Oracle did it a long time ago. I'm sure MSSQL will be doing the same if they haven't already. As your product gets more capable (and therefore used in larger systems), you need a way to price descriminate and extract more from those customers who are getting more from your product. With modern...

I think commisioning such a thing at all is pretty wild and crazy. I have my pilot friend checking with the FAA for restrictions on either pointing it towards the sky or operating it from an aircraft.

What are you using and how are you judging the results? Did you identify something you didn't like and pursue a fix? Are you trying a bunch of stuff and seeing if you prefer something else? Working from settings listed by others?

    4k TVs and Monitors

I'm marking some of that up to early adopter stuff...that was pretty early in the whole 4k thing. I'd rather it be made by Dell, HP, Samsung, ASUS, or just about anyone else and would happily pay a premium. But I don't see them in that space.

Looks like I pulled the trigger on 4k just a bit early, my first 4k monitor (Dell UP3214Q) has a well documented issue with 4k@60 via DP1.2. My Acer B326HK units are working fine. Shopping for a replacement for the Dell. 4k IPS is critical, at least 32" (34"-36" ideal), at least 60Hz.

They've already ramped up their fulfillment staff (hired 500k additional temp workers), but buying has been below projections. This leads them to ship very quickly if a bit inefficiently.

My house is smallish and well insulated. However my wife and mother-in-law both have rather extreme preferences. My wife wants 73-75F at all times. Nichia Develops 60 Lumen Per Watt White LED

Both of these are true. LEDs produce far less heat for an amount of light (more efficient). However, LEDs need to be kept way, way cooler than other kinds of lights. LEDs are happiest under 50 or 60C, whereas halogens can happily be hundreds of degrees.

I'd assume that that is your credit score. Even if you don't plan on financing the vehicle, many dealerships get payments for getting you to finance through the automaker. I was able to get another $1500 off my wife's car by financing it and then immediately cutting a check for the total amount.
