If I read Wikipedia correctly, you can end up with virtual hard drive space. (thin provisioning). No thanks. I like to know where my data is at exactly.

I chased a boot/video problem on a Supermicro board yesterday. It wouldn't recognize an add-in video card. When I removed the video card, the motherboard video worked fine, but it took a long time to boot. I flashed the BIOS with the version that was already installed and everything worked fine.

Same here.

I've had similar boot problems when the OS is looking for a network connection that's missing.

RoboCopy has a 'mirror' switch (mir) that sounds like what you are looking for. I've used it for copying 300GB to 600GB of files of all sizes without problems.

Still no write back. I believe it's because LSI Advanced features are disabled. It takes a super secret pass-code to be able to register on the LSI site, and then they give you another super secret pass-code to activate the advanced settings. I don't have either. What a crock of shit.

I plug in a WD USB drive and everything works fine. Should work with a Seagate USB drive too.

To me it sounds like you are making it harder than it has to be. Right click on the time in the task bar; Click the Internet Time tab; have the computer sychronise with the time server of your choice. Then have the other computer sync with a batch file [net time \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx /set /yes]...

I recently purchased an Intel RS2WC040 RAID controller. Basically an LSI controller with Intel labels. When setting up a RAID 0 drive, I found that I cannot change from 'write through' to 'write back'. What's the secret? Googling gave me a lot of non-answers, even more confusion. Thanks

When I ran all the parts through the Antec power supply calculator, it came up as minimum 422W. And when you factor in the capacitor aging it jumps to 469W minimum. I'm just surprised it lasted this long, considering it was being run at ~90% capacity.
