    Windows 10 activation hardware changes

I think most likely it is a volume license scam (diversion) since the price is so low. If somebody sells you a 15K watch for 1000, it doesn't take a genius to know that something is amiss in the supply chain. ;)

So the 24 is hard limit? Somebody mentioned that Intel has more than 24 lanes on their consumer setups since some are coming from the chipset. Is that right?

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

The Nitecore USB battery chargers, especially the QC wide dual charger, do some strange things with the battery reset point. In some cases the battery does not charge completely and in others is does, but the chip reads less. The dual sided Nitecore chargers only charge one at a time...

I do want to buy a used car

Considering it is already a used car with miles and how David drives, the question is how much it is worth in end value vs. how it looks/feels for daily driving. Back when I cared about that sort of thing, I would get some kind of coating done and then then some guys doing waxing or something...

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

I recall using fast zooms on movie cameras in the 70s. I wanted to be a DP at one point in my youth. Nevertheless, what part of AND in that sentence above is unclear?

    HDMI and 4K

I am familiar with such limitations, e.g., when I upgraded the display on a mATX Z270 to 2560, but it had DP in addition to HDMI and DVI ports. It would not be surprising that cheap people often underbuy and have unrealistic expectations.

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

Absolute IQ of a $2000 lens remains to be seen, but should be better than the 200-500 Nikkor at 500 mm. The lack of a 500/4 is rather disappointing.

    HDMI and 4K

I'm not seeing many 4K displays for typical workers. A few people have them for specific purposes, but they have desktops or laptops that probably have a video card. Is it the standard that people have 4K displays in your business?

    Ancient PC with Windows 98

The Eizo Flexscan S2133 (21" 1600x1200) is still around AFAIK. A more economical option would be to get a 24" 1920x1200 display and let the sides go black at 1600.

Well, you know what I meant. ;) Anyways, the buffer size is only part of the equation. Unless you are uncoordinated or have a D5/D500, etc. and are lazy, it's normal to shoot in bursts. What matters most of the time for wildlife is the throughput, i.e. the FPS prior to buffer full and also FPS...

Even at my age it's quite feasible to handhold one on a 5D IV for reasonable periods. The 600/4 IS III is so much lighter than the old 500/4 IS that I really like it. It's too bad that Canon did not also lighten up the 500/4 as I usually prefer the versatility of that focal length. Apparently...

    Ryzen

I'm currently using SFP+. It looks like the MSI x570 has 4 long slots, but I'm not sure how they are arranged. It probably costs more than the CPU due to the 10GBaseT card..

    Ryzen

That is interesting, but the cost of new add-in cards would probably be more than a better CPU/chipset. Is there any indication of when NVMe will increase performance to PCIe 4.0? I suppose that will bring ~6GB/sec. transfer rates.
  39. LunarMist

    Ryzen

I don't need to have the 10gBe NIC and RAD controller integrated, just the ability to use PCIe cards for them. I think those two are 4+8 lanes, plus 8 for the video and then 8 more for the two M.2/U.2. Ideally the U.2 could be PCIe, but I could use an M.2 adapter.

I need two M.2/U.2, 10GbE NIC, SATA/SAS 8-drive controller and video card. Is that just a no go with the AMD? IIRC Intel had some way around that 24 lane deal, albeit at a possibly reduced speed.

It's very basic, not big words. The D610 is an older camera, but with a decent 24MP sensor. EXIF indicates that the image was RAW. The sensor produces more chroma noise than luminance noise due to the color reconstruction needed from the Bayer pattern. The amount of chroma NR and luminance NR...
