Combined to the other computer I sold yesterday, I have a different puzzle than usual : too many orders for my buying capacity. I guess I prefer that to "not enough orders...

    Java 7 released.

It's preferable if it's there anyway, be it only for not receiving the "Java required" message that pops in LibreOffice when it's not installed. Average users tend to have panic attacks when windows pop up with error messages they don't understand (which they never do).

I just like bigger numbers. Also, most of the computers I setup aren't touched by a technician for many years after they are first configured. It doesn't matter if nothing uses Java 7 now. In two or three years, it might be another story. I'm not sure the Java update will update the platform...

There's a sale on the Silverstone FT03 enclosure I've wanted for a long time. Too bad no one makes a dual-socket µATX motherboard. And why are things I want always on sale when I have no money. Probably because I never have money. Except for the few times I have. Which is rare.

So it's a go? Great, so I'll install it on my systems. If it crash, I'll just blame it on you (because someone other than me has to take the blame). I'll be sure to try it first on production machines and not to take backups prior to the installation, like usual.

There's no long term warranty for the beta projects, but a dual E5620 is plenty fast to complete the big beta units well within the prefered deadline. Even a dual Opteron 6128 (8 cores each at 2.0GHz) is able to complete a Project 6904 unit in time (the fattest unit there currently is).

Ok, I screwed up again. It's the Xeon 5645 I wanted to compare to the Opteron 6172. It's a 6 cores/12 threads, 2.4GHz CPU. It cost ~550$ per CPU. Two of those plus an EVGA Classified SR-2 would cost ~1700$. Less than two 12-cores Opteron Magny-Cours with a dual-socket motherboard. It might...
