Keeping in mind that there's little chance of people immediately dying if the plane's autopilot disengages and nobody does anything. In a car, one can immediately hit somebody and/or crash. There's not enough time to react.

Don't Teslas do this? I recall Elon Musk describing how a particular accident was driver error and not a problem with their autopilot system. They had info about the status of all of the car systems.

One could use the software (for free) to back-up to another machine running the software. You didn't have to pay to send to their cloud servers. I know of folks who swapped space for backups across the Internet. All of those back-ups will be useless.

There are ways to give video preference on the RAM, but system memory just doesn't compare to what they're putting on video cards. GPUs eat bandwidth, and that's why there's not a lot of point to integrating even middle-range graphics with a CPU.

It seems only two firms (Samsung and SK Hynix) make most GDDR and all HBM, so it's not too hard for them to reduce supply, even if not colluding. The problem seems to be increased demand (thanks miners) and moving of manufacturing resources to other lines.

It turns out that the orange plastic bit is a spacer that is required. The Threadripper CPUs will apparently come with the spacer, a Torx wrench to operate the screws, and an AM4-to-TR4 heatsink adapter.

The new currency (BCC) will initially only be worth a fraction of of Bitcoin (BTC) because it's only being espoused by about 15% of the users. But it could gain traction later. Same thing happened with Ethereum (ETH) and Ethereum Classic (ETC).

Even if AMD isn't better -- just cheaper -- that still makes it the better choice. If you were looking at a 10-core i9, why not get a 12-core Threadripper for less?
