Wow. MS really got decimated today in the next generation console war.
Sony: cheaper, no internet check-in and (apparently) less DRM restrictions with respect to sharing/selling games.
The reality may be that the DRM differences are less than appear, but Sony won the war of public perception...
My (admittedly unfocused) monitoring of the PSU issue left me with the impression is that the potential problem was PSUs not being able to cope with Haswell's extremely low power draw in its C7 state.
From this VR-Zone article:
If P5 knows of another issue, I'd appreciate a link.
Edit...
For simple .iso image => DVD, the built-in Windows program works fine for me. Actually, I haven't used anything but the built-ins for simple DVD/CD manipulation with Win7.
Aw. The lack of sharpness is disappointing but not surprising given the cost. Do you think the lack of sharpness is due to some sort of AR coating or did they go pentile or some other non-RGB stripe?
Highest resolution DisplayPort adapter I've seen is 2560x1600 (like these at Newegg).
Then you need to remember to use a dual link DVI cable as well... I've had 'clients' [family] omit that bit -despite written instructions- and call me at midnight to yell at me 'cause their brand new 27" lcd...
Edit time expired...
Quick scan of reviews indicates that indeed 30Hz is the limit due to bandwidth of HDMI, but screen refreshes at 120Hz (paints same image 4x). Not optimal, but not as bad as the worst case scenario I was envisioning.
Also, I hope I am misinterpreting this from the spec sheet: Component & HDMI supports: 480I, 576I, 480P, 576P, 720P, 1080I ,1080P, 4k2k 30HZ
'cause that implies only a 30Hz refresh at full resolution.
...and PDFs, and some media files (that Windows Media Player handles), and XLS, and TXT and RTF. Previews many types of files depending on the associated applications.
Ahhh XTree... used that (non-Gold) back on my rockin' 1MB 12MHz 286 and 40MB Seagate 251-1.
Anyway, nothing special on Win 7; just click show preview pane button at far right of the menu bar, and then adjust the split by click-dragging the vertical lines separating the panes.
The .doc preview...
I think you can use Windows 7 (or Vista, probably) and MS Office (trial version of Office 2010 tested) to accomplish what you want. The previewed file is from Word 97, so I bet that 2000 files would work.
Just watched the Avengers twice on Blu-Ray. I enjoyed it much more in 2D rather than 3D (watched 2D first as I forgot I could watch in 3D), and the hokey 3D effects really distracted from the film. The only effects that I liked were the more subtle atmospheric effects (floating embers, some...
I haven't explored Win8 yet, but I don't think it needs to lie about the amount of free space available; a 10TB pool with one 1TB drive would show 1TB free out of 10TB.
AX750 is about 88% efficient at full load (750WDC), so it'll draw around 850WAC from the wall running flat out.
Edit: Cross post with dd.
DD, are you using the reporting function of the 1200i for you consumption figures?
The cnet article from 2004 about the sale says Great Wall Tech was IBM's partner in the laptop manufacturing joint venture. Also said that Lenovo had right to use IBM branding on associated hardware for 5 years after the sale.
I'll post a link once I am back at a real computer.
This might be a 'first taste is free' scenario. Anand reported that it is $50 for the first year, then regular AT&T data plans after.
I'm going to need to wait for all the details to be exposed before coming to any conclusions ["This deal is getting worse all the time!"].
