If anyone is using Chrome as their browser try apending --disable-gpu to the shortcut. It makes the the browser much less laggy while folding.

It generally shouldn't take more than 5-6 frames to get an accurate PPD as long as it is in continious operation (pausing or stopping will initially mess up the calcs but they should self correct within 30 minutes). The prefer maximum performance disabled is the forcing the driver to determine...

DD, Check your Nvidia control panel and make sure that you have 3D settings->Power management mode set to prefer maximum performance. Your cards could be running at a very low power-saving clock rate.

That 275K Total PPD is a good solid number but I was expecting much more: Like 900K PPD peak. Your previous 16500 credit number with one slot would be a little less than 100K PPD. Your computer has 4 GPU slots each running a different WU. I do not know if that 275K PPD is coming from a...

P8057's are the only WU's that are testing the new GPU bonus points. 16520 in 4 hours is no better than a single GTX 460's. I would have expected more than 2x that. P.S. The PPD (lower left) is probably better for comparison purposes than credit column

The beta server VPS12 has been having fits recently and has been regularly going down. When that is happening the transfer to the normal work servers has not been smooth. It has been issuing GPU2 WU's that cannot be completed by Nvidia GPU's. The symptom is that the client gets stuck...

You can use 2.25 on Fermi's but its performance is significantly worse than 2.22 (a good 30%+ slower). Keplers have to use 2.25.

Others seem to be getting them, but not me. I do not know why. All I've been getting are p8018's ever since the server that gives them went down last. It came back up, but it does not seem to like me any more.

I don't know. The literature specifies a quad is as high as SLI goes, but I do not know if that is 4 cards or 4 GPU's. That being said, folding does not care about the SLI status.

Since you have not been previously GPU folding you will probably need to revert to an old core v2.22 too. A new install will auto DL the new core version and as far as I can tell the only people getting these WU's are using an old core v2.22. That means you will need this link to get the old...

Yes and no. Assuming a continuous 6 hour non-folding block then For any WU's that start and end inside that 18 hour block, you will get the maximum bonus. Those outside, will get less than the maximum. The bonus point system is exponential with no limit so any time not folding will decrease...

Kelper's currently have issues. They require a new core that still has problems and is still in closed-beta. Currently, Fermi's are much more reliable. I'm sure that will eventually change but when I cannot predict. That is not to say you can't fold on them but I wouldn't invest large...

Are there any Issues with Lenovo B560?

Just as a longevity report. I just got the machine back from my niece. Over the year, the DVD faceplate had broke off; one of the battery sliders broke off and is still rattling around inside the case; and the reason she returned it to me was that it no longer powers up. Luckily, there is a...

AMD and Intel Officially Announce Settlement of All Disputes

It seems to me that 1.5b is Intel getting off really cheap. Either AMD must be desperate or that cross-licensing agreement is very valuable and/or necessary for AMD's future survival: I find it hard to believe that Intel is getting as much as AMD from the cross-licensing.

Also, there have been plastic washers. I too would think that grounding points would be very reasonable, and I suspect that they are used as such. No, those washers have been in existence for as long as I can remember. At one time they used rubber, then they went to a very stiff almost ceramic washer and now they are all paper. For the most part, except for the most obsessive builders, they are not used and I can't say that I've seen a...

    i5 dropped today

I did send the MB back and Gigabyte sent me a new one that seems to work fine. That of course destroyed my inertia so when it got back, I replaced my 9 small HD's with two 1.5's; then I reinstalled everything from scratch and the system seems to be totally stable.

Another Digital Camera Thread - Point and Shoot

Just because marketing forces PS's to have high ISO settings does not mean that any photograph taken at those speeds are acceptable. To get acceptable high ISO photographs requires a larger sensor than PS's have which currently means SLR.

Another Digital Camera Thread - Point and Shoot

If you want low-light, then you are almost stuck with an SLR as opposed to a point and shoot. The PS's just plain don't have the sensor size needed regardless of how they advertise them: A noisy ISO 400 is what they offer, at best.
