Are WD JB drives 60GB/platter yet?

Those were both done on a promise FastTrak100/Ultra100 with a palomino 1700+ and Soyo Dragon+ (kt266a/8233).

Are WD JB drives 60GB/platter yet?

I think it's just the combination of controller you're using and your CPU. You could try running in ata66 mode (I've seen benches that show it uses less CPU time while providing the same benchmark speeds) fot what it's worth, here are read/write benches of both an 800JB and a 1200BB 800JB...

i dont have a window on my case, so i wont be swapping the old one out for the new one... but if I did have a window I would certainly do it. I think it's a nice touch, especially if you already have wrap on most of your wiring.

It's $7 instead of $8... it also seems that they're made better.. the latest one that I just recieved has black wrap encasing the wires similar to what can be found on enermax PSU's. It also has heatshrink tubing on both ends of the wrap to keep it in place... personally, I think it makes this...

lol, did you ever realize that a slot A is physically just an upside down slot 1? you can litterally take an athlon and put it in a slot 1 motherboard and vise versa.... (No Tea! I did not mean you can put a slot 1 motherboard in a athlon, I meant that you can put a slot I CPU in a slot A board)...

It uses the 8233 southbridge, which as far as I'm concerned works fine.. There have been some complaints about it not acepting PCI bus parking, but that has been fixed in the 8235 southbridge available on kt400 boards. For a budget board that's what you get. (Acceptable performance, but not...

Somehow i think tannin is selling the chips that are behind the price curve.. or at it... ie, the 2200+ for ~$100... while the 2.0gHz p4 northwood is ~$160 The 2200+ probably beats the 2.0 at most things a user would want to do, while costing 60% less. This is the price vs performance I believe...

you're correct, the overclocked 2100+ would operate at default with a multiplier of 13.. resulting in 2158mHz when ran on 166mHz FSB.. somewhere inbetween 2600+ and 2700+ (but below the orginal speed of 2800+)

i've read that the kt266, kt266a, kt333, and kt400 as well as nForce2 all support changing multipliers.. but it is of course upto the motherboard manufacturer to implement this feature in the board. if you can't change the multiplier, you can just go right to changing the FSB... going from...
