    Odd forum behavior?

Is anyone else experiencing any odd issues with the forum? After I log in I get a message about an invalid URL (Edge does this too). The links to edit, reply, quick reply under posts don't do anything bu show the spinning throbber on top of the icon. I've tried Firefox and Palemoon both with...

question External Keyboard sleep in Windows 10?

So I've never seen this one before... I have a Microsoft Wired 200 USB keyboard plugged into my Yoga 3 Pro running Windows 10. It seems like the keyboard sleeps or goes into some sort of low power mode after 5 seconds of not typing. The 3 status lights (numlock, caps lock, and scroll lock)...

The car charger showed up in the mail yesterday. I connected it to a power supply to test it for basic functionality before I put it out in the car. I saw it pulling more than 12W while charging the phone (which was around 48% charged). So, it's either really inefficient or the Quick Charge...

problem USB flash drive refuses formatting, due to write protection

I'd get the manufacturer involved even if it doesn't find any bad blocks. It has a warranty and it's not working. If nothing can fix it, I'd definitely contact them to make use of the warranty. They may have a utility that can fix it, if not let them replace it.

    problem Stupid website security questions

Am I the only person who hates the stupid website security questions? They're always the same sort of crap. What is your mother's maiden name?, What was your first car?, In what city were you born?, etc... You know, the sorts of things that can easily be determined with a little social...

Why hardcases? I'd recommend ChinaHobbyLine's LiPos. Nice quality at a great price, but they've been offline for a few months working on a new website. According to their facebook page you can still e-mail them to buy batteries. However, I realize you probably want to be able to browse and...

I intentionally wanted a folio case to protect the screen from scratches without adding much bulk. The back you linked to should work. It's a tad pricey though. This one on ebay is about $10 less. It looks like most people just buy the NFC/Qi sticker and replace the NFC sticker on the...

My concern is more a year or two from now when the battery doesn't last as long anymore and needs to be replaced. Not having a 2nd charged battery to swap in mid day. I got a Qi wireless charging back / folio case and plan to keep it sitting on a pad in my office and at home. I also got a...

Smartphone and plan advice (v. clean slate)

Yes, the Galaxy S6 too. The S6 doesn't have a replaceable battery, so it was out. The Note 4 was more money and bigger than the LG G4. I wasn't trying to go that big. The LG G4 is already pretty big.

Generally, yes on the amp. Some of their more sensitive models do okay from a good headphone out, but you end up with the volume pretty much maxed. I don't think HiFiMAN has any PM closed back units. Audeze does. I haven't heard any of the Audeze phones. As a reminder I have HE-500 from...

Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro gripes (v. it's turrible)

I was at the last job for over 5 years. The company changed significantly over the time I was there. So apparently the 2 monitor situation was quite as dire as my initial quick test showed. Some applications shrink when you drag them onto the 2nd monitor (27" FHD) so they're not all blown up supersize style, like Outlook and Pale Moon. Others like Adobe Reader DC don't. However, the scaled...

I did okay with a 14.1" FHD screen on my T440s at the last job. When I was writing code I definitely preferred having it dock and using 2 monitors though. One was a 24" 1920x1200 monitor and the other was the 14.1" display on the T440s.

So I have a Yoga 3 Pro as my work computer at my new job. As far as I'm concerned this is the worst work PC I've ever been provided by a company. If I wasn't using it for work it'd be a tad better, but I'd still classify it as a turd. First, the keyboard is terrible. For one, it has no...

It all depends what options you pick. I should be pretty benign with the defaults, but it doesn't display video in the same way normal applications do. That's intentional and how it gets better video quality by bypassing all the normal manglings of Windows.

Ehh... That's sort of nebulous. No, I didn't see something I wanted to fix. I don't know if the more advanced intensive settings I can run would even be visibly better in a ABX test. In general NNEDI3 gives better quality the more nodes you give it, but that cost more from a processing...
