    Cheap Display

I bought this one for my parents. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009588&Tpk=24-009-588 It was $170 with free shipping at the time. It's not IPS, it's a VA panel with 3000:1 native contrast. It's got a wider viewing angle than a TN panel, but it's not IPS wide. I...

    My evolving space heater

So I got my R9 380 today. I had to use the drivers off the included CD because apparently AMD doesn't provide drivers anymore for Windows 7 32-bit. Who knew... Long story short with the same madVR render settings as before using my worst case scaling scenario (DVD -> FullHD) render times...

Yeah, apparently I should have read the webpage a little closer. It seems they're only supporting 64-bit now. Asus provided a Win 7 32-bit driver on the CD for it though. I was thinking to move the system to Windows 10 x64 now that madVR has 64 bit versions.

So, I had no idea it was so hard to download drivers from AMD. I have a Radeon R9 380. I'm running Windows 7 32-bit. For the life of me I can't find a working link for the drivers. Not a positive sign. First of all I can't pick Windows 7 - 32 bit on the left hand side. Further, clicking...

What are you looking for? I picked up an ASUS Radeon R9 380 2GB from Newegg on the 24th for $169.99 before a $30 rebate. I added a few SD cards that were at Black Friday price levels to pad out the order to $200 so I could use the Newegg/AmEx promotion for $25 off a $200 purchase. UPS is...

    4k TVs and Monitors

Then there will be a dearth of actual true UHD content since the DIs of nearly all major movies are 2K, not 4K. So the studios are going to upscale the video before encoding it. I hope HDR and the wider color gamut are enough to sell the format.

That's because they go complacent and lazy with their Primecentric bargain focus. All they did was copy deals from Best Buy, Target, Walmart, etc instead of having their own unique deals. Those three retailers will ship for free regardless of order size without requiring a $99 a year...

    Ting?

I'm really tempted to try Ting. I currently have a 4 line 700 minute a month family plan with Verizon with flip phones, no data and no texting. It's about $95 a month which isn't bad, but it would be nice to have a smartphone with some texting / data capability without paying a $40 a month...

Huge lack of bass compared to what? If you've got a good seal to your ear canal with the tips they're decent in the low end for an IEM sounding fairly balanced across the spectrum. They certainly not bass heavy though. I can't say I really noticed them breaking in. What are you driving them...

For the most part, yes. The video card basically does all the video codec decoding in hardware. The CPU doesn't do a lot. Mostly just IVTC if you've got film based interlaced content with a telecine applied to it. The pixel shaders do most of the magic, and some of the routines are VERY GPU...

With skill aluminum can be welded. However, most places will probably tell you it can't be done. You'd also have to refinish that part of the wheel, though being on the inside the finish match isn't so critical. That's probably also the sort of thing you'd want to disclose when selling them...

    My evolving space heater

So it seems I'm turning my HTPC into a space heater. I just ordered one of these to replace the Radeon HD 7790 I have in their now. What's an extra 105W TDP between friends? What did I do that for? Why for madVR of course. Yes, I know it's an AMD card, but they are much better performers...

That sucks. Does that wheel/tire lose pressure? Have you tried contacting Morr? I realize you're looking to move on to something else, but only having 3 good wheels will make selling them much harder / greatly reduce the potential price. You may be able to get it repaired, which at the very...

It's pretty simple. Tell the salesperson you want to buy a car. You tell them the features and options. When they don't have one with the features you want on the lot they can check inventory around the country. If they can't get a car like you want, they will order it. They may try to get...

BMW and Mercedes sell them. Chevy has a diesel Cruz. So there are still some diesel cars out there outside of the VAG umbrella. I'm not saying you necessarily should buy one. I was just saying that if I was trying to maximize fuel economy I'd rather have a diesel than a hybrid.
