    Which 2TB Drive?

It was a $17 drive when I bought it. I did buy a GH24NS95 from Microcenter for $16 not too long ago. It uses the same chipset as the crap DRW-24B1STi, but apparently LG knew how to implement it. It's a much better burner.

    Which 2TB Drive?

Exactly! A few years back I tried Sears buy online, pickup in store scheme on some tool deals that popped up on some of the deal sites. Somehow despite getting e-mails telling me my order was ready for pickup more often than not when I got to the store (within a few hours) at least some part...

    Which 2TB Drive?

As far as I know ASUS has always been a re-badger of optical drives. Putting their name on someone else's drives. The DRW-24B1STi is a clone of the Lite-On iHAS_24 E. The DRW-24F1ST is a Samsung clone.

    question Good SATA card?

FWIW... My Haswell box has the Intel controller in RAID mode, two ASMedia controllers (soldered on the mobo), a PCIe IDE controller, and a PCIe SATA card. All are enabled and it works fine. My Sandybridge has the Intel controller in RAID mode, a PCIe IDE controller, and a PCIe SATA card. It...

    Which 2TB Drive?

On a related note, I wrote a scathing review of an ASUS DRW-24B1ST drive and submitted it to Newegg today. I believe I followed all their guidelines. We'll see if it gets published or not. PS: It's the worst DVD burner I've ever tested.

    Which 2TB Drive?

Not to mention the stupid guidelines Newegg wants you to follow when you write a review. Product Review Guidelines Newegg.com reads all reviews before posting them and reserves the right to deny any review. Here are some of the things that can cause a review to be denied: Offensive or abusive...

    Which 2TB Drive?

This one. I'm pretty sure they use 1TB platters. You'll note the retail ones have better reviews. I was wrong about the price though. They were $120 when I bought them.

    question Good SATA card?

I'm not sure I agree with your conclusion. I have at least one PC that is using two "soft" RAID-1 setup (Intel ICH + JMB) and I don't have any OS problems. Real HW RAID cards don't usually support single drive pass through applications. You usually end up having to make a some sort of "array"...

    Even better audio from a laptop v. Audio-gd NFB-15.1 + Emotiva Pro Airmotiv 4

I picked one of these up from Emotiva in their "Secret Warehouse Sale" this past week to drive my Stealth 8's. It was pretty much the least expensive "DAC" with a remote with proper 2.1 operation and XLR outputs that I could find. $350 shipped.

    LED flashlights

    1) Probably under 10 lumen 2) It depends on the LEDs. Something like this could be over 100 lumen with good LEDs, but that's probably not very likely for most, so maybe up to 25-30 lumen. 3) 55W bulb is around 1500 lumen

    question Good SATA card?

The IDE card is PCI? I've had good luck with the StarTech PEX2IDE card on the IDE side (for optical drives). On the SATA side the I've used a IO Crest / Syba SI-PEX40064 with good results, again for optical drives.

    Which 2TB Drive?

Newegg was peddling retail Toshiba's 3TB 7200RPM drives for $109 with free shipping back when I put my Haswell box together several months ago. I think they've sold them for $99 one or two times since.

There's also the lack of accents. The complete absence of any slight timing variations in all the performances which should be inevitable since they didn't perform together. If the pieces are really legit, the makers have post processed the audio to the point they sound like a choir of 20-30...

So which of the Avast products are you recommending Merc? Antivirus Pro? Avira Free has pretty much wore out its welcome. I'd pay to get rid of it at this point, and frankly I'd rather pay someone else. Do they have any Multi PC deals? I'm probably going to dump the AV protection from my...

    Music

Not to rain on anyone's parade, I'm just a bit skeptical (okay a lot skeptical) that the audio to the videos is actually from the people shown. The fidelity is way too high for the average person singing into their webcam's microphone or whatever passes for a PC microphone these days getting...
