Intel Haswell-E (X-99 chipset) processors reviews.

I find myself trying to get his old install of XP (32bit) running on this hardware. All it took to boot into the OS was to change to IDE mode on the controller, but drivers are proving....difficult. Are there really no X99 chipset drivers for XP?

One of the things that amazed me most about my car was that the paint straight from the dealer was not perfect. Some orange peel is to be expected, but there were hairline scratches and a couple minor pits straight away. Interested considering my car hadn't even been washed by the dealer yet (I...

Hilarious. I haven't seen this kind of lead on here. Was almost expecting Handy to reply "Nope...nothing to see here...." Did you end up moving your mods to the new car and putting the stock bits back on before sale? Congrats on the new purchase!

    Private VPN endpoint

When I only need one WAN port I use an FVS318G, they also have one with WiFi included, as well as units with 2 and 4 WAN ports. These can handle 99% of implementations. The only place in my control where that wasn't enough we installed a Barracuda Firewall (8 ports) and Content Filter.

Parts from stock. Shouldn't make that much of a difference. They ended up dropping "Workstation 2" on my recommendation, just putting the SSD in their existing machine and installing the new software to see if that is enough performance. Added a bunch of UPS for everything at their request...

    Private VPN endpoint

What you want to do is possible, but Merc and Chewy both know loads more about it than I do so I won't bother with that. What I do is use routers that support VPN directly. I really like the Netgear ProSafe series. Router-Router connections are insanely easy and do all the things you want...

I haven't tried to run one outside the other. I just use the Origin client to launch the games (same for Steam). I can try to close out the Origin program and see if a game will load? Or would you like me to try to uninstall Origin and see what happens to the games?

That just about nails it. I still would be playing CivV, but appreciate the slight variations to keep it fresh. The graphics aren't that much better (Ultra@4k@29Hz) I have Origin for SimCity, Battlefield, and FIFA. It isn't awful, just limited. Mainly annoying because it is *another thing*.

    Capture Cards?

Looking to pull the signal from an HD DirecTV receiver to play back in a window on a computer. Assuming HDMI protection prevents doing this over HDMI, what about component? Single source, playback only. Don't need recording, multiple inputs, or any outputs. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Standalone RFID/keypad solutions?

If you mean the steel box the product is made of, I would hope so. If you mean the steel box of the elevator, the person operating it will also be in the elevator so that shouldn't be a problem. Intel Haswell-E (X-99 chipset) processors reviews.

Tempted to go 5930 over 5960 for the higher clock speed. As Merc said, that is too many cores for a single user workstation. The number of programs that can use them all efficiently is vanishingly small. Even those that show load on all cores typically have some single-threaded process that...

So after several weeks with the K04, I've resolved my last complaint. During quick-ish driving (2/3 throttle?), 1-2 and 2-3 shifts were really violent and occasionally the car would hang at redline without shifting for as much as half a second. Once this even set the check-engine light...

    Hillbilly-ish Docking Station

Plan B would depend on your display driver. nVidia, Intel, and (I think) AMD allow you to get in and actually specify a resolution (type in the number of pixels and the refresh rate). Intel makes this really easy.

Microphone to Speakers shouldn't be this hard.

As I'm researching, I realize that the mic requires Bias power and not Phantom power. This further complicates the ADC I'll need on that end. As a matter of fact, I haven't found a single example of what I'm looking for that isn't an entire mixing board.

Microphone to Speakers shouldn't be this hard.

One of the issues of this house is that, with the layout and all the insulation/isolation I've done in the house, it is impossible for us to hear her regardless of the amount of noise she makes.
