    Pope Hangs It Up?

Indeed. I suspect it has to do with the mental gymnastics required to hold both sane and really silly ideas in your head at the same time.

    Pope Hangs It Up?

I'm with Merc on this one. Or at the very least that expose on him (mea maxima culpa) is getting ready to take another swing. Fun fact: he doesn't have a drivers license, but has a helicopter license.

A Linksys router piggybacked to an ActionTec router, doesn't connect to the internet

Seconding the seconding. Don't use more than one router at once, it is a bad idea. 5GHz would be nice, and if you want to do it you should convert your E2000 to an access point (or get something that can be an access point out of the box). Go here. Type in "E2000" and choose the version you...

A Linksys router piggybacked to an ActionTec router, doesn't connect to the internet

What Mercutio proposes will work, but you won't be able to use any of the ports on the Actiontec router for anything else. Any device connected to it will not be visible to devices plugged into the linksys.

A Linksys router piggybacked to an ActionTec router, doesn't connect to the internet

So you only want the Linksys for the better wireless? You want to configure it as an Access Point. Not sure if the stock software allows that (I did a quick Google and it was vague). Otherwise look at one of the aftermarket ROMs.

The only thing I had delivered to the house lately was a new toilet (ordered from Amazon, Prime is awesome). If I didn't have an office with a receptionist to sign for everything, I would absolutely have a PO box at a facility for such things.

    Security Cameras

Mostly $1500+, but this one is pretty nice for $350. I always buy them from B&H. I do have one of their 7MP+ units, and it is awesome, but dealing with the higher-res video is cumbersome.

    Surface with Windows 8/RT

Very true. And if something even half that awesome had beat the iPad to market, Apple would have gone bust. But MS isn't an innovator anymore, so there you are. I might have to get one of those as the ground station for my drone projects.

    Remote Control Aircraft

Turns out that it didn't come down on the hill, but nearly a mile away in a cattle field, 45-degrees off what I thought my last heading was. Confirmed that the video transmitter failed due to overheating (next to the ESC). I'll be mounting the whole transmitter on the surface of the plane from...

    Security Cameras

I've used quite a few Axis IP HD cameras. They work great but cost a fortune. Depending on how many you are after, you can get the ones with SD cards internally and not worry about a server at all. I'm looking into the IP Camera add-on for the Synology Diskstations that I have, that might make...

Indeed. I'm bummed I wasn't able to find the props I wanted to use in any color but black. Painting is one option, but I really like the carbon fiber look. Probably $1k. Way cheaper than the pilot's training I was doing before. Oh, and after writing the last post, I walk down to my car and the missing plane is sitting right next to it. One of the kind souls on the hill had located it and brought it down to me. I'll be hand delivering some beer to...

    Remote Control Aircraft

Scratch one airplane. I had my computer control stuff on one airframe and decided to play with the FPV stuff on another. The 5.8GHz receiver for the video feed arrived today, and the system works great. I did however get motion sick after playing with them for less than 10 minutes. Today the flights were going great until I pulled a Google. Wow that sucks. Surely USPS/UPS holds some responsibility if they left the packages in the open? And if they left them because their stated value was too low, then it rests with the seller for misrepresenting the package. I suspect a nice letter on some legal stationary might help in this regard.

The Radian now has all the bits needed for autonomous operation. I don't think a mission is on the menu for tomorrow, but...

question I think I need a router - dumb question

All you need is a gigabit network switch. This will keep your current router and just get you more ports. This is my current favorite: Netgear GS105 Just run a short network cable from one of the ports on your router to one of the ports here and you are golden.

I haven't tested it, but according to most reports, 3-5 miles. Fortunatly I'll be running autonomously most of the time, so signal strength doesn't matter. The link that I care about most is the telemetry link (915MHz) that should be good for 5 miles. Next is video (5.8GHz, 600mA) that should...
