Anyone who needs lots of cores really needs lots of computing power. I'm having a hard time thinking of a scenario where many slow cores is the preferred solution. Perhaps if ESXi wasn't so good at sharing cores between VMs it would be a reasonable application?

I don't go anywhere but here anymore. I do Slashdot, but keeping in mind the cattle mentality combined with the (charitably) crassness that anonymity brings out in some people. APR does seem to be the most user-friendly of the aftermarket companies, and has the most comprehensive selection...

I'm not talking about unlimited capacity, simply sufficient capacity to prevent throttling 90% of the time would be significantly better than what we have now.

I suspect it is just my crappy phone (Android 1.5 - Opera browser, the built-in browser crashes on the new site and FF isn't compatible this far back). It even sent me back to the top when I pressed "reply" then ate my post after I has scrolled all the way back to the bottom!

Desktop pc freezes when using either Win XP or Win 7 OSs

I'm with Merc on this as a likely MB issue. The only other thing I'd point to would be the PSU, but 90% motherboard / 10% PSU sounds about right.

No, it is a hypothetical. If the telephone company actually owned such a small amount of infrastructure that you couldn't get a dial-tone any time you wanted, the government would step in and make them build a decent product. Extending that, the ISPs (particularly cellular) are saying that...

    Something Random

If people who had phone service regularly picked up their receivers and couldn't get a dial-tone due to overprovisioning, the FCC would be all over the telcos. If overprovisioning is perceptible by the user, it is an error on the carrier's part that they need to rectify.

Perhaps we can have hyperlinks underlined? Or again dial up the blue to make them more distinguishable? On my P-series Dell screens it isn't an issue, but I was just on a crappy Acer 22" and links practically disappeared.

Your home Stereo/sound system/s? What did you buy, how much, and why did you buy it?

Something interesting about this system that I just noticed. The quality/tone/balance of the system doesn't change at all regardless of volume. That is pretty neat. I'm used to turning up the volume causing an increase and then drop off in the low frequencies...not here at all.

Not sure about the speakers, they are covered by custom grilles that match the upholstered walls. Some I might be able to have a look from the back side. The statues are Oscars (one legit, the rest replicas).

19" and 20" wheels also give you less sidewall and a much harsher ride, in addition to weighing more costing more and being more fragile. I'm now having 40GB SSDs fill just due to Win7 and Office2010 updates, even with all data kept elsewhere. 80 would be my minimum recommendation, with 160 giving you a nice quick place to work with images.
