Not a fan. Being able to use the card should at least require physical possession of the card without exception. From what I understand, there are ways to read the NFC in cards the same as passports and standard RFID keys.

I don't know that much about clustering, but the guy who is interested in a "beast system" says his load is "massively parallel". I figured 64 cores for under $10k would be the way to go. His work is something scientific, mathematica? Something like that.

We did the "Support your local Sheriff/Gunfighter" double feature last night. Not James Garner's best work, but a decent cast and some mild laughs.

One of the things I like is that they have turned up the max viewing distance, so you aren't living in a foggy world. You can move slowly and carefully through the world, spotting baddies and avoiding confrontation.

On "Home1" it plays at 2560x1440 on Ultra quite smoothly. It does demand more CPU than any game I've seen before.

Other than RAID-0, I don't see a compelling need in the SSD space at this time. The cost/GB is still high enough that your redundancy should be in HDDs wherever possible.

If you are considering upgrading video later on, I might recommend simply starting with a low-end discrete GPU and evaluating upgrades later. You'll save nearly enough on the video card to cover it, end up with some better performance in the meantime, and have a more clear upgrade path for the...

Photoshop and the rest of my workflow can easily use all 24GB if I don't only keep one application open at a time. Closing them is massively time consuming.

Keep in mind that Windows 7 can only support 192GB of RAM. That is probably the sane maximum at this time.

I shipped that Sim2 projector back to the US repair center in Florida for $350. They "repaired the fan motor" for $25 and shipped it back. While they were at it they cleaned the whole unit and flashed to the latest firmware. Awfully nice of them.
