    Converted to Linux

One thing I've found pretty annoying about Fedora is SELinux. I understand what it's there for, but it's extremely restrictive out of the box. I set it to permissive mode, so that it won't block anything outright, now it just gives me tons of various warning messages. I have a couple NTFS mounts...

    Converted to Linux

I'm still trying to find a decent video player. On Windows I was using Media Player Classic Home Theater Edition. I'm currently using VLC, but I find the performance to be kind of crappy. I also installed KPlayer, but it doesn't seem that great either.

    Converted to Linux

I wanted to run KDE and everything I have read about Kubuntu sounded bad. I tried installing OpenSuse, but also had trouble with the installer. Also, the Unix sysadmin at work uses Fedora so if I have problems he is a good resource for me.

    Converted to Linux

I decided a few days ago that I was bored with Windows, so I decided to install Linux on my main machine (HTPC will stay Windows XP for now). I chose Fedora 11 with KDE 4.2.x. The process has been a lot easier than I imagined. I had trouble with the initial install, because the install tool on...

SSDs - State of the Product?

Well, at least it sounds easy enough to fix. This will give me slightly longer to figure out how to buy this without angering my GF.

One thing I'd like to point out is all the MLC SSDs that have poor write performance can be "fixed" to work fine with MS SteadyState. I understand it's not a great solution for everyone, but it's been working fine for me for months.

    Firefox Strangeness

I've been doing more research on this and have found that under certain circumstances content-length is unnecessary. If content is generated dynamically many times the transfer-encoding will be set to chunked and then a content-length is unnecessary. See the technical explanation.

    Firefox Strangeness

I was just re-reading the article that sechs linked to in the first post and they say to change the Firefox setting to not do keep-alive. I don't think I would do that. Keep-alive will significantly reduce the number of TCP connections that are required to GET most pages. I would bet that this...

    Firefox Strangeness

Here's my understanding: when Firefox starts receiving HTML markup in the response it won't start rendering the page until it has received all the markup. This is particularly true with poorly written markup (missing closing tags). So, if the browser can't tell when the end of the response is...

All that Live HTTP Headers does is show your request header that gets sent to the server and the response header that the server sends back. I doubt it makes anything faster. I mainly use it for troubleshooting purposes.

    Firefox Strangeness

Connection keep-alive basically tells the browser/server to keep the connection alive so that it can be used for future requests. This way you don't have overhead for opening and closing a new connection for every request/response. The problem is that if the web server doesn't send a...

I would guess that it won't be possible with the first version. However, this is an open source project, so there isn't any limitation to what could be implemented. I would guess that once it goes "stable" the project will get forked and features such as this will be added.
