Tony, the distortion is due to the lens. Some are better in this regard than others. Generally distortion is at it's worst at either end of the zoom range. If you set the zoom to the medium setting this effect should be reduced if not eliminated altogether. Switching to macro mode should also help.

I would imagine it would be like the AIW cards, i.e processor dependent. There was a leaflet with my AIW 7500 saying a p3 700? was sufficient for dvd quality. For mpeg1 anything over 400MHz should be fine.

Well I'm at about 35% util when capping at DVD res. I guess it's one of those times when dual 1.47 XPs come in handy :D Now HDTV on the other hand..... but they have special cards for those.

Dual Interface IDE and SCSI CDRW

I believe the SCSI capability is via a plug in bridge board, Mercutio has been doing similar things with ACard bridge boards to give SCSI flexibility to his 32x IDE burners.

I guess you will want something with decent macro capability to take detail shots (of the back of the drive?). And perhaps some decent flash capabilities so they aren't dim and dark like most of the pics on the web :) I would recommend a 995, but it would be complete overkill for just screen rez...

"Back" button in browser - strange behaviour

It gives me the shits too. The back button here and at SR.com give me an older version of whatever it was I came from, i.e. I will get an old version of the threads view page. The only way to get an uptodate version is to hit the navigation shortcut or hit the Go button. If this could be fixed...

ATI AIW Radeon 7500 and 80GB drive. 30-40 hours of recording. In the USA it works with the GemStar GuidePlus+ software provided and you can select which programs you want to record. Barton, SOI... Am I missing something?

Well that's goodnews for AMD users. The last thing we needed was some very slow technology crawl with Motorola dragging the chain. After all look at what Motorola has done to Apple's CPU performance with the G4? Makes sense that the easier chips to produce could be made at the new fab, whilst...

It seems instead of giving us SOI in Barton, they have decided to up the cache to 512KB. Then intro SOI on the Clawhammers. The question is whether with 2 processors running at the same clock speed, one normal, one SOI, does SOI provide a performance increase in this case? I would imagine it is...

    World Cup 2002

Any sport that requires subjective judging to decide the result is a bit dodgy to begin with IMHO. Look at the farce with the figure skating in Salt Lake. Certainly beating someone to death with a blunt piece of wood gives a pretty objective result :D

Well we are in Q2 now with not yet a 2200+ in sight. So 2400+-2600+ by the end of Q3 is reasonable. I guess it all depends on how hard Intel pushes the p4 upwards.
