Also, can someone tell me, are the keys provided collectively for all the variants of a sw, or for each variant? In other words, if one gets two keys for Win 7, is it 2 keys for Win 7 Home Premium, 2 for Win 7 Pro, 2 for Win 7 Enterprise, etc., or two keys total for all variants of Win 7...

I know the feeling. At one job I had in the very early '90s, I was in charge of IT security, and used to get a list of terminations (in advance) every couple of days. After a few months, I would puke at the thought of this and quit my job in the middle of a major recession in S. CA, vowing never...

    Technet Advice

This was true for MSDN (when I checked several years ago), which is why I never subscribed to that. The attraction with Technet is that it *is* forever. Can somebody who has it please read the EULA and tell me if BingBangBop is right?

    Technet Advice

Sir Howell, Not true, according to this. Please read from the sub-heading titled "It's forever". If this wasn't the case, I wouldn't bother. What I need is Win XP Pro, Win 7 and Office 2010.

    Technet Advice

I'm going to order a Technet Standard subscription (my first). What should I do as soon as I get it? Go to MS's website and ask for as many keys as is allowed for each sw I'm likely to use? I guess the download can happen anytime during the period of the sub. Or can I do it after that as well...

Thanks Howell & DD. I can't get to it this week, perhaps the next. The big decision is whether to break the seal on the packaging or not. There is the possibility that they will refuse to activate if they cannot authenticate that the IP address is from the U.S. & Canada, so that may rule out...

    Wireless

In Windows, since the scroll wheel became clickable. This is native in Windows, don't need no special drivers to be installed. This is the part of a mouse I wear out first; either the scroll wheel doesn't click anymore, or will bounce like a bad shock absorber, resulting in multiple clicks.

    3TB hard drive from Seagate

My data - stuff I really need to care about (legal, finance, etc.) is 3.4 GB. Other stuff I'd like to have is 6.5 GB. Downloads are 28 GB. All this is spread out on 3 drives (1 GB + 2 x 320 GB), replicated on to another drive out of the 3, so if a drive dies, I'm not SOL.

This Is Why We Don't Buy Drives From Newegg

Newegg has always shipeed drives with bad packaging. These RMA problems seem more recent. Probably due to the scale / size they've grown to. It takes extra effort to sustain quality processes as the business grows.
