    Quality 19-24" LCD Monitor

Thanks for the tips, snowhiker. I'd go for the ZR24w, what's giving me pause is the chunk of change it costs. I'm also trying to learn about wide gamut displays, and the pros and cons thereof.

It could be killing the computer because of sloppy coding, but more likely is up to no good. When in doubt, isn't it safer to nuke it? The few bucks he's already spent on it ain't worth keeping it on.

Thanks Time & Coug. Time, HP's India site sucks (as do most computer mfrs). Their monitors are buried deep, but here's a direct link. I'd think HP would be too expensive here; they're fond of gouging. Here's the list of LCDs and prices for some (I've converted the local to US $ at the current...

    Quality 19-24" LCD Monitor

I want a smaller monitor than Snowhiker, hence this new thread. When I bought my Dell 2007WFP, my daughter got my 1997 vintage Viewsonic PT775 CRT. It's now dying, and we need a monitor. One option is to get a lowball LCD for her. The other (that I prefer) is to get a better LCD for me and...

What's the verdict on Windows 7?

I have Win 7 Pro on a 3 yr old Dell Lattitude with 2GB RAM. No slowdowns. DD: I have this one, and it's quite fast. It's FW-800, but comes with two cables that enable use with either a FW-800 port or FW-400 port on the host. Since the reader draws power from the FW port, the host port needs to be 6-connector ('alpha'). Or you'll have to use a FW hub that provides...

Sorry, long post! Admittedly, my OS install is long in the tooth; installed almost exactly 4 years ago. I am dreading reinstallation of all the sw, the utilities, the tweaks, etc. But while the system is generally ok, disk throughput seems poor. I had 2 Hibachi 250 GB SATA drives in the...

There are a couple of CDMA providers who also now offer GSM. Easily, more than the lion's share is GSM. Prices in the U.S. are tempting. TMobile is offering the HD2 without a contract for $449; cheap compared to the $750 it costs to buy here.

Some distributors will do the logistics work for high-volume retailers. That's how Buy.com got started; never held any stock. The items ordered on buy.com were shipped directly from Merisel or another distributor direct to the buyer. This eliminates one layer/transaction.
