Maxtor Atlas 10K IV and IBM Deskstar 180GXP resiult in SR DB

Both are impressive. The Deskstar for its low noise level (between Barracuda ATA IV and ATA V, while being quite a bit faster than the Barracuda ATA V. The Atlas 10K IV because it beats the already very respectable Fujitsu MAP drive in all but one (bootmarks) benchmarks. It's also not louder...

Maxtor Now "Shipping" A 250GB ATA HD

This isn't quite true. Fluid bearings are supposed to produce more heat than regular bearings. Why? Don't remember. The Barracuda ATA IV confirms this in a way, as it gets hotter than most other same-generation 7200rpm ATA drives. I'm not saying that it is an unreliable drive by the way. I...

So I was wrong and this isn't the MaxLine II. It is another model.

Yep, maybe I should. Orgg Vorbis time... Don't worry, if I like it, I will buy it. I usually buy the CDs I like and re-compress the songs to my liking.

    Give us back subsilver

VereorLordoftheRings...oh well, can't discuss taste. ;-) Glad to find back subSilver. I didn't hate the new style, but I'm so used to subSilver that I feel more like home with it. Thanks for the theme addition.

Maxtor Now "Shipping" A 250GB ATA HD

IIRC and if that drive really is the MaxLine II as I think it is, it carries a three years warranty.

Maxtor Now "Shipping" A 250GB ATA HD

This must be the MaxLine II. It has been announced a while ago, but it wasn't available on the streets before today (if it is, haven't checked). I think it's one of Maxtor's models with an advertised MTBF of 1 million hours.

Searching the title of the main song of Ghost Ship movie.

I asked about the song from Mudvayne because I'm more interested by their music style than by the rest of the songs found in the soundtrack. I'll probably buy one of their CDs. Hopefully, it will be as good as "Not Falling". I haven't found a lot of good stuff these last few years.

I saw it too, but like Steve, I would prefer to see it on an nForce 2 motherboard than on a slower KT400. It's good to see that it's possible though.

BMW Z4, like it or not?

5.8 seconds. Top speed electronicaly limited at 155Mph (250Km/h). The chroniclers of Automobile magazine liked its road behavior better than the Honda S2000. It is kind of normal since the Z4 is both pricier and a newer design. The main difference between both is that the S2000 needs to rev...

BMW Z4, like it or not?

I rarely droll for a car, but the Z4 definetly felt in my eye. The 3.0i version is supposed to almost equal a Porsche Boxter's road handling/fun, while costing less. The exterior design repeal many (generally old) automobile chroniclers*, but I really like it. Now if I can just find the 40K...

Opera 7 hasn't been released yet, just the first beta of Opera 7. It crashes too often to my taste on my Win2K box, and I had to hard-reboot twice so far because of it. Unlike you, I like the new look. There are a few annoyances though, which is normal for a beta release. The bookmarks'...

    Windows XP Home OEM license.

I am really tempted, but since it would be for the company, I have to talk about it to the other manager I'm in with. 299U$ = ~475$CDN, not bad at all. Let's say that my finger is hovering over the mouse button to click on the "click here to purchase" link on Microsoft's web site.

The more I think about it, the more I think they meant an external peripheral computer component, like a printer. Anything fitting inside the enclosure should do.

    Windows XP Home OEM license.

Found! So it means we can get it with any non-peripheral computer hardware component. Now, what is a non-peripheral computer component? IMO, a CPU or motherboard would be ok, but what about a memory stick or a lonely hard drive?

I have started to see this unit on my pricelists. Haven't tried it yet, but the three-notch clip is a plus IMO. Only 22$CDN here, so you should be able to find it for ~15U$ or less. Not too loud and relatively light so it should be a good all-around solution. The Thermaltake Volcano 6Cu used...
