    Cell Phones and Serice Providers

I use an HTC 6800 with Sprint. $300 phone. It's not great as a phone - I don't like losing the hard buttons because I memorize phone numbers and don't bother with the address book. I use the thing as a WiFi signal detector and for Email as much or more than the phone. It has 1Mbit internet...

Fine. Looks like I get 50 fps or so @ 1920x1200 with an 8800. You'll probably get half that.

PC Gaming = World of Suck

UT3 Demo: Very very pretty. Runs very well on my gaming PC. Level load times seem long, and the menu system is all console-y and crappy. The gameplay is just exactly as fun as the previous two games in the series. I've only done Deathmatches against bots so far, but they are a blast.

    Movies

Tonight's selection from my DVD jukebox was "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert", which stars Terrence ("Kneel before Zod!") Stamp and Hugo (Elrond, Agent Smith) Weaving as Australian drag queens. I'd never bothered to watch it, but it is highly amusing.

    Movies

Crouching Tiger, Hero and House of Flying Daggers are all high on my list of most spectacularly beautiful movies. Actually I really like Crouching Tiger's soundtrack, also. Kind of surprising since I'm not a fan of most Asian entertainment idioms. Somewhere in Time is a touching movie. One of...

    MP3 Player (what to buy)?

May I just say that the methods for adding music to Creative Players are exactly the same as methods for adding music to Sandisk? You use Windows Media Player. That's it. It's the same for both. The bundled software with any MP3 player is going to be worthless if you're trying to use that. My...

    Video card worthiness

The ones that keep coming back to me are 50 or 60ish single or divorced women who start on Gamehouse titles or Yahoo games, then move into things that are advertised through that - Puzzle Pirates, the Sims,Tale in the Desert or the most recent Nancy Drew titles. They are to a one understanding...

Lightweight Anti-virus for Windows on Business Network

AVG (not-free) is still not a bad choice, if lightweight is part of your requirement. I know of businesses that use it, and it really doesn't have the impact that Symantec or Kapersky have on a computer. NOD32 is probably the best choice, though, given the cost (same as AVG) and overall effect...

    Another video card

I have had to RMA a BFG 768MB 8800GTX twice (my ex gave it to me...). The cooling solution on those cards is woefully inadequate in my opinion, even in non-overclocked and well-ventilated systems. I have one in my gaming system and I'm utterly afraid to use that PC to play games now. Also I...
