I went with the Samsung Mega. Huge battery, and most of the time lasts the day, or close. Use it constantly for driving information, music player, and phone, with a headset. Have to try your mounting setup. Great to be able to pull up the websites, and assignments for work, not to mention my...

XP computers in a business environment

Even with SSD's in both machines, and respectable old cpus, file transfers are so slow it's painful. If the old business requires moving fairly good sized files, it would be a real incentive to move up to 7 or 8..

Sounds like my house... The Beast, which DD is working on, is down. I've had to move to move the HTPC in, and I'm now doing my business stuff on it. I kept the HTPC on XP3 because of a lack of drivers in 7 for the sound card and printer. I do understand why people keep XP around. Some of the...

Would you buy a vomit box if it came with decent hardware for a reasonable price?

The first and last Dell I bought had a motherboard that would support only one ide drive per channel, when the standard was two per channel. Took 6 months to finally figure it out, and only because of repeated calls to Dell, and finally finding a guy that knew what he was doing. Likewise...

    Windows 8.1

One of the considerations I've had is getting a laptop with a faster processor, and to be able to take advantage of the faster SATA bus. However, with the even a IDE Kingspec SSD, the hard drive performance is fast enough so I don't think it's the bottle neck: Ethernet speed transfers are in...

Hi I'm wondering how people are reducing their Bluray disks for storage? One of the reasons here is the price differential for 25 gig vs. 50 gig Bluray disks. A lot of movies are under 25 Gigs, but, with all the bundled previews they come in at 40 gigs, or more. So: What software have you...

Power consumption for the home: or how those LED's do really work...

AS for the LED's and mini-flors: the leds emit less light, but project it a bit better, in a clear, more focused direction. This works great for most ceiling mounted fixtures, since I want the light pointing down, not lighting the ceiling. With the old popcorn ceiling it eats light, due to it's...

Photo editing software for Windows 7?
