Backplanes are really scsi, and that really means supermicro, for SCSI, or, check on their SATA setups. The ide solutions I've looked at required 4 ide connectors, or, both mobo connectors, with slave and master set. Not really an SCA solution, at all. Knock on Sata is you have to have a SATA...

Yes. My drives died, fairly quickly. I gave up on ide, until I saw the 5 year warranty on the Maxtor DM 9, and, I bought it from Costco. Really needed a boot drive for the mac, with huge storage, and, I figured if they are all that fast, I could connect it to my mac. I did, and it sucked...

Forgot to mention that this machine is a Dell, with the BX440 chipset, IIRC. I LOVE this chipset. It's VERY fast, and works much better then my Asus A7m266, considering the other components involved, the speed is from the chipset, not the other stuff in this machine. I intend to run her...

I guess Matrox does a really good job of testing, but, the tradeoff is impatient customers. Read Matrox forum. Still, the g550, and P-650 are both crystal clear, and everytime I sit down at this computer I can't get over the difference the card makes in 2d. s

My gripes were it SonicNow didn't let you know how much data you were going to put onto the DVD, and it wouldn't record on DVD-R, even though a big selling point of the drive is the cross format writing ability. It did write well when I finally got it going, and I made backups for all my stuff. s
