    webpage updating

How about this. I've used Gallery in the past and it's relatively simple to administer once installed. If you are interested in automating the entire site, you could use one of the many content management systems out there (Drupal, Plone, PHPNuke, etc.) Lots of these are available on...

    Memoirs of a Linux Convert

Most of the application I use at home are comparable in speed. I am extremely pleased with the way Opera works for browsing. OpenOffice applications function as well as Microsoft Office. Nothing seems to be too laggy. The only apps that I’ve tried using emulation are Photoshop and IE 6...

    Memoirs of a Linux Convert

I've made a concerted effort to use a Linux-only box for my essential computing needs at home. I am currently posting from a Mandrake 9.1 box running KDE 3.1, Opera 7.21, and a slew of applications ranging from OpenOffice, CrossOver Office, Samba, Xmss, and Xine. I've been using this machine...

    So, um, where is everyone?

I've lately been reading more than posting. With a new girlfriend, lots of work responsibilities, and many extra-curricular activities, as well as moving, I have found little time for composing my thoughts and sharing them here. I think this is a very fair statement. The more involved you...

    surfs up, lets go!

Been gone awhile...Surf's always up in the summertime in the south, with many premiere whitewater rivers including the Gauley, The New, The Ocoee (just 45 minutes from me), and the Nantahala, just to mention a few--and no sharks (although some of the rocks are probably as sharp as a shark's...

And I know I speak for the group in saying that we're glad you have kept this promise. Absolutely. Depression is a difficult thing to describe unless you've experienced deep depression. And I don't think anyone can prescribe a sure-fire cure, because there are so many different types of...

    Chattanooga Flood Pictures

With the destruction that flood waters can bring, there is quite a beautiful side to the high waters... This was taken the Saturday after the flooding, at a nearby state park, Cloudland Canyon (I've never seen the falls that are below me in the picture, and I've hiked there quite a bit): And...

Yeah, and a darned carp! :) Actually, had a hard drive failure. That was the minor part of the repair. Reconfiguring everything was the hard part, because I couldn't remember some of the parameters I had set in Apache. But I'm on the road to recovery now.

    Getting In Shape

Midori Linux on MSN Companion Internet Appliance

Yeah, the ethernet thing sort of sucks. But, I'm planning on a wireless connection for the car, so I would need to connect through USB anyway (no expansion slots). When all is said and done, I should be able to upload files (e.g. mp3s) from my office directly to the car. That's the design...

Midori Linux on MSN Companion Internet Appliance

I recently acquired (for free) a pile of old equipment from a co-worker of mine. Amidst the junk (old Packard Bells, printers, and a mess of other stuff) was a Compaq IA-1 Internet Appliance. It was designed basically to jump on the web and check e-mail. It has a CF slot and onboard flash...

Aim for the right side and bank the ball off. You have to hit the angle just right, and it will bounce through the little channel and into the area where the hole is. It doesn't always work, but if you hit it just right, you're almost always guaranteed a birdie. When I get home, I'll post a...

Pride and support of country is not equivalent to being snobbish. I don't feel like other countries are below us because we are American. I simply take pride of where I was born and raised, just as many others take pride of where they are born and raised. I didn't choose my parents, but I'm...
