I just got an e-mail from Dell with some really incredible pricing on AMD X2 systems...coincidence?

Yup, the prices have really dropped. But not all distributors are passing on the savings yet. Happily, one of mine is passing on the savings, and I to my customers. (Although, not the $83.00 price.)

Newegg would be on board since they buy from the same distributors I do (but at lower prices due to volume). Ingram Micro seems to be more forthcoming with the savings versus ASI.

That x2/6000 would be very appealing if I couldn't get an E4300 to do 3.3GHz for about half the price.

Possibly, but I doubt the people making the cuts are considering OC-ability. There simply aren't enough OC-ers to change the market.

Speaking from a purely price/performance ratio, at the moment you're still better off with Intel. The E6400 is ~98% of the speed (it's in a statistical dead heat with the E6600, performance-wise) and 70% of the price. Or thereabouts.
