If the prices showed on this page are any indications, the upcoming E5-v3 will be significantly more expensive than their corresponding ancestors. Additionally, the high-frequency models often are worse than their predecessors if you look at the #cores/frequency/TDP. All this combined and it looks like that except for a few cases, it's not worth it to delay a purchase for this upgrade cycle, in contrast to the cycle before where it was a huge jump from the generation before.

DDR4 support is nice, but as there will be a premium assosciated to it, the investment might not be initially worth it, at least not before it ships in high volume and the prices drop.
