It's cheaper and faster than top enterprise SSD like the HGST SSD800MH or Seagate SSD 1200 (both featuring SAS 12Gbps interface), but you can't fit as many in a single server though. However, fit two or three like that in a server with mecanical drives in the front hot-swap bays, then install something like Datacore SAN Symphony V on it and you end up with an amazingly fast SAN that can't be touched by proprietary SAN solutions costing less than an order of magnitude more.

So it requires Windows 8? :(

The drivers that Chewy linked to says the drivers are required for Server 2012R2. Apparently the drivers are not native to Windows 8 or Server 2012R2. The drivers also work with Server 2008 so maybe you can get them to work on Windows 7.
