Even 4K is overkill IMO for a smart phone. 11K isn't just overkill, it's downright ridiculous. Apparently, Samsung believes it makes too much money and chose to waste some on useless R&D projects.

I have many uses for an 11k screen. All of them involve that screen being larger than 5.5"

Agree. I'd like a real 40", IPS, 5120x3200, 16:10, 120 Hz, Freesync & G-Sync, HDMI v2.0, DP v1.3 computer MONITOR a million times more than a smartphone with stoopid-high res.

I just want the removable battery back. Who could see at that 11K resolution, some small ant or tiny mite? :pale:

The predictions I've read are that the Note series will keep the removable battery and SD card. Personally I'm planning on going to the LG G4, which has both. Merc seems to like it.

I'm a big fan of ultra high resolution screens but even I think this is ridiculous in a 5.5" screen. The eye just can't resolve anything much smaller than maybe 0.05mm, even if someone has great close-up vision. That's 500 pixels per inch. The pixels on this screen would be 2,250 to the inch. This makes the resolution of an 11K screen essentially wasted if the screen is less than maybe 25" (and BTW I would love an 11K, 25 inch monitor).

All that said, at least if this technology eventually works its way to regular and large screen monitors it will make sense. Right now I find 4K is fine on a 24" inch screen but I'd like something higher with larger screen.

I'm not going to complain. Tiny dots suck. Tinier dots suck less. If they're building these things and they're practical, it's only going to filter down to the tech we are actually interested in. We can buy a 50" 4k screen right now at a Walmart for $600. Three years ago that would've been $3000. It's progress and it's a good thing.

I agree I see minimal benefit in a 5.5" device but if this helps them perfect their process and we can see this in other panel sizes down the road, I'm all for it.

Yeah, I'm with everyone else here on wanting it at a much bigger size. Given I recently cleared off my desk/table/workbench and now have over half of it free even with a 17" monitor and a slimline tower sitting there. I could definitely use a bigger monitor.
