Baby Elizabeth was born at 6:05 Am on April 18 after 32 hours of labor. She weighs 8.5 lbs and is 21" long. We haven't slept for 55+ hours, so the rest will have to wait.
DD, congrats to you and the missus, and blessings & best wishes to the little one! In the older days, extended family (grandma, aunts) pitched in to help care for the newborn and the tired new mom. Seems that happens rarely nowadays.

When our girl was born, my m-i-l was on hand to help. Though it was me that stood at my wife's delivery table for 10+ hours, nearly passing put from the fatigue (up all night after multiple 16-hour work days), stress and hunger.

Some babies are sweet tempered and cause very little trouble. Hope yours turns out like that!

Oh, and watch out for allergies. Our little one was supplemented with formula, and wasn't gaining weight. The stupid pediatrician accused us of neglecting and starving her and threatened to turn us in for abuse. We got a second opinion, and the diagnosis was milk allergy, use soy formula instead. We did, and she started gaining weight. We should have sued that stupid pediatrician for malpractice and for threatening us.

Thanks Merc. How about some pics of your kitties? Handy is yet to post the pics he promised me as well.

I can start a "icanhaz cat pics" thread and contribute. I have way too many pictures of the silliness my cats cause. I play fetch with my little cat and it cracks me up when she brings her mouse back after a dozen fetches and she's huffing and puffing and breathing hard while the mouse is still in her mouth. It makes an incredible sound you'd never expect from a cat who's been hard at work playing. Makes me smile.

My business card has three pieces of information on it. My name, my e-mail, and my domain name. Until now the domain name went nowhere. Thanks to my new Dreamhost account it points somewhere. Of course, I know nothing of HTML. Currently the page looks exactly like I want, but I know the HTML is inefficient and ugly. Anyone care to take on the challenge of composing the most elegant code to perform the same result? Raw HTML only, please.

Code:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<style>
body
{background-color:black;}
h1
{
color:white;
</style>
</head>
<body>

OK, I don't know if it's "the most elegant"... but it's something.
Code:
<!doctype html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<title>David Drueding</title>
<style type="text/css">
body{
	background-color:#000;
	color:#fff;
	text-align:center;
}

a{
	text-decoration:none;
	color:#fff;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<div>
<h1>David Drueding</h1>
<p><a href="http://www.linkedin.com/in/ddrueding/">LinkedIn</a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ddrueding/">Flickr</a></p>
<p><a href="http://app.strava.com/athletes/700278">Strava</a></p>
<p><a href="https://www.facebook.com/david.drueding.5">Facebook</a></p>
</div>
</body>
</html>
If you want to adjust the space between the links, just add p{line-height:2em} or whatever, I think 1.4 is default.

This is the tightest I could make while staying HTML 5 compliant. ;)

Here's my second take. 531 bytes + that it validates without warnings, unlike my first attempt.
Code:
<!doctype html>
<html lang="en">

<style>
body, a {background:#000;color:#fff;text-align:center;text-decoration:none;}

Wow, so out of touch.
Would like to greet DD and his wife on their baby daughter. That is a wonderful event. 32 hours of labor is a long while to wait.

Dealing with a baby. Mom handles most of the duties, but when the kid is crying and mom can't get her to stop, then I step in. 4 times today so far.

Dealing with life in general - working parttime, maintaining a fulltime study load at Uni and spending time with the family leaves little if any free time. Just glad I have 6 weeks left in my degree, and lucky for me, where I am working part time has offered a full time permanent position when I graduate. (I'll be working in software development/R&D and part time case management for a digital forensics lab).

On a good note, I may finally get my bike back from the repairers tomorrow! (8 weeks since the accident - mainly due to stuff ups with the insurance company and them being slack).

I was at a comic book convention all weekend, but I don't normally visit SF all that often on weekends anyway.

Nope. That's just the first thing I saw when I walked in the convention center.

Ms. Marvel, Spider-man, Captain America, Luke Cage (aka Power Man), Black Widow, Daredevil.
Hawkeye (Kate Bishop version), Squirrel Girl, Hulk, alternate future Hulk's Daughter She-Hulk (yes really), Winter Soldier, (Wolverine's daughter) X-23.
Namor the Sub-Mariner, Hawkeye (Clint Barton version), Black Panther, Moonstone in Ms. Marvel disguise (yes really), Ant-Man, Iron Fist.
Wasp, Quicksilver.

I couldn't get good angles on any of their best poses but Squirrel Girl told me it was about 80% spontaneous. Those were just the costumes those people happened to wear on Friday.

Quicksilver is really funny. He's an Indian guy in probably his late 40s or early 50s. I've been going to these conventions for years and years now and he always dresses up as a comic book speedster and wears a different outfit every day.

My friend Michele has some good pictures of me and my funny hat but I think they're on Facebook or something where I can't see them.

Here's the Indian guy as golden age Flash, surrounded by what I'm guessing are models.

600x400

Better angle. I was probably about 18 inches from the photographer when he took that shot. Jerk.

And here's a bunch of people wasting their time pretending to be DC comics characters:

72800_10151956208244465_1412500041_n.jpg

Very popular costumes this year: Finn or Fiona and Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time; The 10th and 11th Doctors Who and also, oddly, The TARDIS; various citizens of Equestria (My Little Pony); Deadpool; Black Widow.
Shockingly rare costumes: Stormtroopers, Slave Leia

I have a pussy problem.

My friend sent me a text containing that word and it was delivered as p****. Now, I ask what kind of ridiculous censoring is that, since the phone systems don't know if the context is feline or other.
Where does the censorship normally occur, on her phone, the ISP or on my end? I sent her the same word and she received it just fine. :dunno:

Typically on the phone... I highly doubt the carrier is filtering all messages... (tinfoil hat: or it's the NSA/FBI/KGB/CIA/Other super secret data collection agency (aka FaceBook) doing the filtering).

Can't be sure... you would need three different phones, hopefully with different OSes to determine the source.

She has a high end Motorola something (Verdizen) and I have the Samsung Galactic II. I don't know who I could text samples to — certainly not the family members. :oops:

I will send/receive any inappropriate text you like as a test; but then you would have to share information (via PM or e-mail). Or you can just post her cell # and we can all try texting dirty things to her ;)

I don't think so. :)
