Surely with your umpteen UPS units you're immune to power failure? Did your backup generator fail to cut in?
I have the massive UPS on the computers and five other ones, but no generator. According to the website it is estimated to be two more hours. The cable is completely out too. Lack of A/C will be a killer if this continues.

So in a few weeks I'm taking the MSF course (that qualifies as a license test exemption), and then it will be time to select a motorbike.
Initial thoughts are something in the 600cc range, a GSX-R 600 for example. Will be used for a 30 mile commute, 20 on highways. I guess even a litre bike would be ok, given I've driven manuals all my life, am in my mid 30s and can exert self control from cracking beyond 1/2 throttle, provided I remember to keep my wrist low to avoid accidental whoopsies. Learning on a 250 and then upgrading is the more sound course of action but I can't justify 2 bikes in rapid succession.

I really miss my CBR600F4i. That was a great machine. If I were to get another bike, it would probably be something a bit more comfortable. Not a Gold Wing or anything, but probably a BMW F800ST or similar.

Keep your medical insurance up to date. Those accidents are very expensive and all too common. Almost everyone I know that rides a motorbike extensively has been in the hospital at least once.
I have the best blue cross blue shield coverage. I've never been admitted into a hospital. Fingers crossed things stay that way.
The biggest risk here in upstate is the bloody deer. Just come leaping out of the undergrowth in broad daylight or pitch darkness. Quite a few deaths that way. They make a decent impact with a car, with a bike its not pretty.

I had a deer once bolt into the side of my car. I saw it coming out into the road, so I came to a stop. It was just standing there in my lane, so I slowly started to drive past in the oncoming lane. When I was alongside, looking through the passenger window right at it, it bolted straight into the side of my car then ran off.

Same experience here, except into the front passenger quarter/door at 50mph in a Taurus, just a blur of movement and bang! Shit and organs smeared down the side, broken glass lucky it was just me, and it rolled down the embankment dead. With a car I wouldn't risk swerving to avoid one, liable to go into oncoming traffic and dying, better to take it as she comes. I guess with a bike its best to try and avoid it as best you can. I'll ask at the course they will prob cover it.

The building where I work was purchased by a charter school that didn't do enough due diligence to know that there is a tenant leasing space in the building.
The school is suing us, trying to get my company evicted from the space, but for right now we still occupy the space.
Anyway, everyone in my office got to work and found that our parking lot was entirely occupied. The school told parents and teachers to go ahead and use our lot. I was instructed to park directly on the school's new playground. I was also given carte blache to listen to music in my office as loudly as I like, since the rooms on the other side of my office's walls are now classrooms filled with sixth graders.
So yeah, that's my "first day of school" experience. The kiddies are presently being treated to a complete recording of Turandot. I hope they like it.

I sold my Concours GTR1000 a couple years ago. Big bike, euro touring position but still basically a full dress ninja that you can bring groceries home in.
I am lusting after a Honda 919, or a Suzuki SV650. Both discontinued but raved about by owners for being an excellent all rounder. Slightly less practical than I want.
Likely settle on a NT700V, slightly smaller than the Concours which will go over better for me on short trips but still very practical. ABS and FI on available on it too, meets my two wishes for the next bike. I see one for $6700 used near me but no ABS on it dammit.

Personally, I think that you and the business acting as a collective A-hole will not improve anything for anyone. The business is more likely to get a better outcome by being accommodating and negotiating with them as opposed to the enjoyment of making everyone's work-lives miserable.
P.S. It is time to start looking for a new job ...

I guess you didn't read Mercutio's earlier posts on this saga. The fact that they're being maliciously sued (no grounds) and have been refused all compensation should put anyone on guard.
Merc, I'd suggest to your boss that you beef up security. Physical security is best, but do you have some surveillance cameras?

The idea of a camera was tossed around, but it was decided that would be actionable on their part because most of the individuals we'd be looking at would be parents with their school-age children.
Which is a huge, huge no-no in the USA.
The current basis for the landlord's litigation is that my company has not been contributing payments for electricity, which is something that is specified in our lease. However, our space isn't metered separately and there has been no attempt to present us with any sort of bill in the last 18 months. The business owner offered to continue paying an amount based on our historical usage + a modest annual adjustment and that offer was rejected without any counter being made.
We're also having really enormous problems with traffic flow and pedestrian safety now. Basically no one can get to the building from 7:30 - 8:30 or from 3:00 to about 4:30 because the school does not allow buses to deliver students.

Still on a medical side, I worry what will happen to me if I keep sleeping no more than 3 hours per nights. Too many things to think about and I'm unable to clear my mind. Around 4pm, I was close to lose consciousness due to sleep deprivation, but I managed to stay awake (working hours). I came back around 9pm and I've not been able to fall asleep since. I'll probably be able to sleep at either 3 or 4am, but I'll have to wake up at 7am to work. This must not be good for my health.

3-4 hours a night is enough to keep you going for at least a year (in my experience).
Of course I can drink whatever she wants as long as it is a clear liquid.
