I saw a bug in bugzilla about this...
It has to do with the open links in option and javascript attempting to resize the new window. It resizes everything not just the new tab.
Blake Ross reported the bug.
You might try changing that option to something other than a new tab.
Talk about taking a thread off topic....
I like dragon ball. Most of my exposure to anime is through Cartoon Network. So I've seen some others that they have on there.
The thing I hate about dragon ball is that it doesn't have enough in one episode. Nothing ever finishes in one episode so I...
Looks like MS might make me call in to activate this XP install.
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/02/25/ms_oem_wpa_move/
This would be legit though, correct?
Well a recovery partition yes. But the problem is there is too much crap on the computer so I want to wipe it clean. Probably of even the recovery partition. I'm thinking about forcing them to get a new hard drive to make life easier. The one in there is dog slow, I think it is a 5400 RPM drive.
So the OEM version is what I think I need, but will that let me do an upgrade or will I have to do fresh install? Secondly, where is the best place to get one and I assume a hardware purchase is required... a DVD-RW drive would qualify?
If I buy windows XP, can I use that CD to install it on another computer but use that computers license key?
See I want to upgrade my home computer with win2k pro to windows XP to have platform parity with everything else I normally use/support. But I have a need to reinstall from scratch my...
I think LCDs can show lower resolutions just fine but there will be black bands around the edges on the unused pixels. It is the stretching to remove the black bands and thus move away from one pixel equals one pixel that causes problems. Does the dell not offer the option to use a lower...
Dietel & Dietel I'm told this is good but didn;t use it myself.
I also have Bjarne Stroustrup's The C++ Programming Language but as I don't do much C or C++ these days I never got around to reading it.
Then there is if you want to program for windows or unix.
If windows there are some...
Why did I pass on the LG 4163?
Anyway I put this purchase off for a few months. I just got the credit card paid down and would like to keep it that way for a while.
Holy crap the IE blog post about it has 184 comments.
I hope they fix some of the standards support.
And I think the IE7 project by dean edwards will have to rename itself ;)
Backup Strategies by Failure Type
I think a discussion of what failure you are protecting against is in order.
One backup, online. (second internal drive)
This method protects against intrinsic hardware failure of the main drive.
It will not protect against an electrical surge taking out the...
Let's assume this statement was made in general and not specific to Handruin.
I would disagree for the following reasons.
1) an external drive can be used to backup more than one machine without requiring the other machines to be on.
2) most people won't crack open their cases to install another...
Looking at the free domain .tk site, you basically have a forwarding service. They provide a service much like mydomain.com. When a request for youdomain.tk comes in they will redirect those requests to the address of your choice. This will be your freewebs page...
Hard drives for backup are easier, faster and possibly less expensive per GB.
I wouldn't count them as an archival backup though. They are more along the lines of a hot spare. If the data is on your main hard drive and your backup hard drive, if one goes down you still have the data. Hard...
Mozilla 1.7 or similar: $40
Mozilla 0.8: $5
Firefox 1.x: $40
Netscape 4.x: $0
IE 4.0: $0
IE 5.0: $1
IE 5.5: $1
IE 6.0: $5
(reasoning here is you need IE for some sites so a nominal charge is acceptable)
I've excluded Opera as I have no experience with it.
When McNabb threw that last interception my heart fell threw the floor.
The first half was pretty good.
But the second half the Patriots had the eagles number most of the time.
They were picking McNabb's throws out of the air.
I was thinking they should have had McNabb run with the football at...
Yeah we just heard this on our local news.
My wife was so surprised she had to rewind it to hear it again.
4 year old drove a car to a video store in the middle of the night after sneaking out of the house. The police noticed it just as it was about to hit two parked cars. They had video...
Well some power cycles didn't seem to fix it at first.
But when I hooked the laptop directly up to the cable modem and restarted it worked fine. So I got the idea to disconnect all cables from the router during the power cycle. So the router was connected to the cable modem but nothing...
When I was in secaucus NJ at a hotel for like two months using their WiFi connection I had the same sort of issue but less frequently. At the time I thought it was just a crappy wifi connection that would drop out occassionaly or some sort of bandwidth restrictions. I solved that by the VPN...
I forgot to mention why I think it has something to do with the router or DNS.
I fixed the problem by connecting to my work's VPN and then opening the browser. That worked fine and fast.
So I recently moved my computer, cable modem and netgear MR814v2 router downstairs. I had to run a cable for the cable modem. So I have less use for the laptop, since I can just use the desktop.
What I was noticing on the desktop got much worse on the laptop when I tried to use it for the...
Spoke too soon?
I turned on the monitor today to find the night's backup listing problems with delay write failed.
I'm not playing anymore with this pinnacle card.
I'm reordering the OWC card with the TI and NEC chipsets.
I was in the hardware store (Ace Hardware) looking for cable to use with my cable modem. There were basically two choices. One without a broadband rating and one with. I picked the last one. Comparing it to what the cable company used they are both 18AWG and 75 something. But the cable...
Well after running some cable in my house to move the cable modem downstairs with the computer, I now have my nic hooked up via ethernet and firefox working in X. I also have an extra hole in my floor but that is another story.
Do I have to do anything special to get my USB flash drive to...
I installed slackware 10 (during the eagles game - I love Tivo) and was typing xf86Setup and xf86config and getting nothing. Then x, win, winx. Finally I found out it was startx. It worked. Silly me though went and ran xorgconfig to mess with stuff and now my X won't start. Apparently the...
We got about a foot of snow here in Drexel Hill, PA.
And it is the light, non-packing, blowing stuff.
I spent many hours shoveling and brooming.
And can i just say
E A G L E S
!!!EAGLES!!!
Well I tried out the MS support staffs round 2 of suggestions.
One of the steps was to download the latest driver for the pinnacle firewire card. And while I couldn't find a driver there for my firewire card, I did find a PCI Performance Enhancer. I discounted this originally because nothing...
Okay then, cancelled that order. No need for more problems.
The chipset choices I've found are NEC, Ali, and VIA.
So I decided for a fourth choice, NEC + TI at other world computing.
