    Upgrading WiFi card in laptop

I often did it when I was self-employed and had my own shop. That was more than 5 years ago though. I don't why it would be different nowadays. The laptops I open these days all have a removable wifi card inside and swapping it for a different model, provided you have the drivers, shouldn't...

How to make VMs suck less

There's always the good old iometer benchmark that you can run on the VM itself. If the iops are abysmal, then you know the system is overworked or poorly optimized.

How to make VMs suck less

It's ok if you want to isolate a system with a simple low-resource task. I have a few VM configured like that, which often serve little teams of employees. People don't complain about performance issues. But running Exchange on this is madness.

If there's one thing I've learn in the many decades I've worked in IT is that you can't defeat human stupidity. And in a way, it's normal. The great majority of the staff isn't working in an IT-related field. They don't have the skills and even interest in learning good security practices...

Brother MFC 8660DN: New Drum, or buy another all in one laser? need a copier

The MX410de comes with a 5000 pages rated toner. For ~300$, I think it's quite good. I've had poor experiences with 3rd parties drum units for Brother printers. Been disappointed twice, four years ago, and never bothered trying anything but the official units since then.
