    GPU folding is here!

Pradeep, if the ~25K ppd you actually produce are done with your new RX 480, running full time, then something is wrong. Did you forget to enter your passkey in the client config? You should produce ten times more points than this.

    GPU folding is here!

The GTX 1060 is about half a GTX 1080. Since the GTX 1080 yields between 700K and 800K ppd, I expect the GTX 1060 to give almost 400K ppd. This is more than the RX 480, according to the reports I've read.

    Cycling

Was the frame in chromoly? It was very popular in those years. Regarding the weight, I used to chose bike that were the heaviest possible. The reasoning behind this is that I rarely went for a long ride and that I used bike riding as a leg training. So the heavier the bike was, the harder it...

    4k TVs and Monitors

It is one way to put it. Explaining in more details would derail the thread. It is a term that manages to be both pompous and ignorant. You used the aweful word "connoisseur", which shouldn't even be considered a word and which I despise. Otherwise, the review is helpful. I read the specifications and at a bit more than 14Kg, considering its size, it is true that lifting the monitor in order to plug USB cables can be...

Did you buy them already, or you're planning to? Apparently, the RX 480 yields around 300K ppd with the FAH client. About the same as a GTX 970. Half of a GTX 1070 (but also much more affordable).

Samsung SM961 1TB with New Controller

Available any day now at RamCity. They ship worldwide. Looking at the specifications, it should be the fastest consumer drive on the market. It dissipates even more wattage than the 950 Pro, so it will need passive heatsinks on it too. I don't know if RamCity is any good though. Perhaps our...

    NAS Drive

So the mecanical drives limit the performance of the NAS. What are those drives? You wrote they were 8TB, but I missed the model. If they are WD Red (not Pro) or Green, then it's plausible. If they are something like Seagate Enterprise NAS drives, then it's weird.

    Someone is dreaming regarding AMD

But we're mid 2016 and the high-end process is still 14nm. Even Intel's upcoming CPU (Kaby Lake) will be made with a 14nm process. The one after that, not due before the end of 2017 (Canon Lake IIRC) will use 10nm traces. Intel is moving to a 3-generations-per-process schedule, which means it...

Read this "news" report. Impossible. I wish it would happen, but it won't. 7nm process CPU design, ready to ship by 2018...nope. At least not from AMD. Sounds like a rumor started by someone who've just bought AMD stocks. I've almost posted it in the Pub & Brewery.

You're like Lucky Luke: you pull the trigger faster than your shadow (regarding purchasing stuff). You spotted it before or after I linked it in this thread? I'm curious how much data it can read/write in sequential transfers thru the 10G ports. Even fully populated, it won't saturate the...

Speed-wise, probably. There's no reason they wouldn't equal or even surpass (albeit just a little) the HGST He drives. Regarding reliability, it's too soon to tell. Seagate, however, doesn't have a track record as good as HGST on that front. I'd still buy those, mainly because they are...

The QNAP TS-831X-16G would be plenty fast and includes 2 10G SFP+ ports. It's half the price of the TVS-EC1080-E3-8G. 8 bays instead of 10, but with 8TB and 10TB drives available, you shouldn't fall short on storage space.

    NAS Drive

Regarding the QNAP NAS you've linked, it's very good for the price, but unless you plan to use it for a mid-size office or use it to run VMs, it is probably overkill. It is the kind of unit I'd use for my companie's need and we have more than 200 employees.

While the 950 Pro should benefit from a few passive heatsinks (because it has none), I don't see how those would make a measurable difference for the GTX 1080. The reference heatsink already is way more efficient than the sticky heatsinks. It's also more than enough to keep the card cool and...
