    Curved Ultrawide Monitors

Tannin still misses his 4:3 displays. I've found that 4k 16:9 screens work just like dual 8:9 screens. And that is very nice for productivity.

Yup. Shipped directly with the waterblock. But I might have one with a reference cooler soon enough. If they are as good as it looks I'll get another.

DJI drones - New Mavic 2 pro announced tomorrow

I still just have the Phantom Pro 3. Decent image quality, but I like the new features of the newer models. The software is getting a bit difficult, though. So many places are geo-locked, and bypassing that is getting more difficult.

Can you elaborate on "deadening the room too much"? I don't know a lot about this stuff, and my assumption was that I want the sound coming from my speakers.

Nice. I've gone a bit nuts with acoustic panels in the last 7 years or so. Adding more always seems to make things better. 30sqft+ in the office at this point. The wall closest and the wall behind (where the speakers are pointed) seem to make the most difference.

Very small laptop. Dell's nice horrorshow

This is the smallest, lightest laptop I've had in ages. The previous recordholder was a ThinkPad X-series many years ago with a 12.1" screen. This 15" screen is a smaller footprint due to the absurdly smaller bezel. It is also half the thickness and about the same weight. No 2.5" drive bays in...

You were more sensible than me Tannin. I had a similar trip with similar requirements. I bought this. It worked great, and has been sitting in my bag ever since.

Yup. I don't even bother charging at night anymore. Just connected sitting in the cradle when I'm driving keeps mine in the 50-90% range most of the time.

    Budget Servers

I have regular workstations with SSDs that regularly get hard-off power events. If anything this has less impact than it did with spinning disks (the drive is actively writing less of the time, so less likely to interrupt a write).

I decided to not actually mess with the house plumbing, but my water heater uses an electric heat pump. This means that it pulls heat from the air around the water heater to heat the water. All the waste heat from my rack goes out to the garage, and a radiator right next to the water heater...

Hard-pipe plumbing that routes to a radiator next to the rad on my heat-pump water heater. The heat produced by my computer makes my water heater more efficient. I don't need a second computer in the case. I'm actually looking for just a flat plate that will mount the motherboard and PSU, with the GPU mounted co-planar to the MB and VESA holes to mount the whole thing behind the monitor. Then just mount waterblocks and plumb it out to an external cooler.

I suspect it can charge at a lower draw. Perhaps it will limit performance when on battery (I hear most modern gaming laptops do). I've booked a bed at the very front (bulkhead in front of me), so there should be room for the sensors.
