Nothing yet, but I'm adding devices slowly. So far my wife and I's main computers, the Amazon Fire, both Sonos, 3 Echos, 1 Nest, and the WiFi (new SSID/password) with just 2 cell phones. Base level of traffic is 15kbps up and 22kbps down. Entirely reasonable.

Just home stuff. Mostly video streaming. Since everything is HD (much 4k), it doesn't go as far as it used to. And there are three of us that watch separate things simultaneously.

This is the first month my ISP has enabled a data cap. I've exceeded my 1TB allocation on day 8 of the billing cycle and already accrued another $30 of overage charges by day 11. For another $50/mo I can go unlimited. Seem prudent.

    VPN connects but no network

Howell might have it, other things to check would be any static routes on the workstation. If you can change the local IP/subnet on your router (and DHCP), I'd give that a go.

Replacing my office phone headset with my computer

Thanks DB, that would do what I need if I could get the licencing sorted out. The software is installed on my computer, but it tells me that my station is not authorized. We'll see how much they want for it when my vendor calls me back.

Replacing my office phone headset with my computer

I spend most of my working hours listening to music on headphones connected to my computer. I also have a good mic connected to my computer. I currently have an ESI 60 ABP IP desk phone connected to a Plantronics CS540/HL10 headset. The interface is pretty simple; an arm lifts the handset when...

For larger installations the spider is great. But I still support small companies with 1 or 2 headless servers in a closet. At the moment they have crappy old LCDs on them that hardly ever work and ball mice that never work.

    Presenting "The Coffin"

The original looked like a coffin. Version 3 not so much. Yup, still in the living room. I have a place in the garage for it, but cable length restrictions are preventing that. Now that the computers are near silent, heat-neutral, and one-sided, I'm considering a new desk design that...

    Lots of Snow

Wife and kid are off to the Aquarium and museums for the day. I am back in my office keeping an eye on things and making sure the generator is behaving itself. I was just out at the country club, they seem to have lost about 10% of their trees (50? can't get out to most of it). Once the wind...

This one isn't wired or fired up yet, but the first one ("Home1" in my sig) never goes more than 2C above ambient, even with the most absurd synthetic benchmarks going. I did put two additional 80mm fans inside running at fairly high speed; they are not audible from outside the chassis.

    NAS Drive

It is faster to throw some drives in a NAS and share them. It is also faster to enable features that the NAS supports. Of course, once you exceed the capabilities of a NAS, you are SOL. A PC-based solution can scale significantly. https://youtu.be/uykMPICGeqw
